WEATHER UPDATE FOR 27th FEB, 2017
Bula,
A trough of low pressure lies slow moving over Fiji and is the reason why we are experiencing overcast skies with showers over some parts of Fiji.
Overcast skies with occasional showers and few thunderstorms over Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and along the Eastern side of Viti Levu. Elsewhere, cloudy morning with showers in the afternoon or evening. Moderate easterly winds.
Keep a lookout as the showers can be heavy at times.
For mariners, expect east to southeast winds 15 to 20 knots. Moderate to rough seas.
Have a fruitful week,
Fiji Met :)

PUBLIC ADVISORY: RESTRICTION OF MOVEMENT FOR WESTERN DIVISION
In light of the continuous heavy rain in the Western Division and floods in Tavua, Rakiraki, Nadi, and Lautoka, the public should reconsider movements to travel in these areas for their own safety.
Travellers are advised to restrict movement along the Lautoka to Nadi corridor as the following pocket areas of the highway are flooded:
· Natabua/Navutu Road flooded
· Saweni (University of Fiji) Rd
· Lomolomo Flats
· Waimalika Area; and
· Sabeto Flats
Parents are advised to keep children and toddlers away from flooded waters and waterways.
Drivers and pedestrians should not cross flooded waters. It is always difficult to determine depth of floodwaters and strength of currents.
The National Disaster Management Office and the Divisional Emergency Operation Centers are closely monitoring the situation.
