Follow our journey for a plant-based textile filling revolution.

We recently participated in the EU Commission’s survey for Textiles Ecosystem Transition Pathway in response to their call for commitments. The Ecosystem Transition Pathway is a collaborative industry process, aiming to shift the textile ecosystem to a more sustainable, circular and digital direction.

Our commitment in the pathway highlights work with SME actors in sourcing and focus on circular and carbon-reducing production methods informed by research and collaboration.

Big thanks to Suomen Tekstiili & Muoti ry for sharing information about this important framework for a more sustainable and just textile ecosystem.

More details on the upcoming cattail fluff training event 🌱

Registration open for cattail fluff collection training! Come learn about cattail fluff picking in Ikaalinen, 20th January in a two-phase Osmankäämi tutuksi -training organised by Metsäkeskus and Fluff Stuff.

The training consists of a practical section in the field and theoretical webinar over Teams. The theory part will also be available as a recording.

The training is free of charge and in Finnish. During the training, you can get a certificate for cattail collection.

It’s World Soil Day today. The day highlights sustainable soil and water management and their importance to agriculture and resilience. Peat moss is used extensively in the production of growing mediums, but it’s a very slowly renewing material not unlike fossil fuels. With cattail paludiculture, the stems and leaves of the versatile plant could be used in soil manufacturing to replace the peat moss.

Excited to tell we had the opportunity to sponsor material for the VORN Berlin Fashion Hub’s Loom II program, where 10 selected designers make circular and digital creations, showcased in the Berlin fashion week in February 2024. So stoked that a regenerative plant-based filling material is included in the materials for the designers.

Save the date! Fluff Stuff organises an educational event in Tampere region for anyone who wishes to learn about picking and selling Typha fluff. The event is free and includes both an instructive lecture and practical demonstration.

We had the joy of being part of F.BAD II project, which researched artic plants and their compounds in different product applications. Our plant-based textile filling from cattail plants was used in a mosquito-repelling outdoor chair with antimicrobial marsh labrador tea (Rhododendron tomentosum) dispersion liquid.
