CAAP is pleased to share the successful graduation of 48 young people, including 18 young women, who completed a 45-day market-driven skills training program along with CoC certification at Degahbur Polytechnic College. The graduation ceremony, held on 30 July 2026, celebrated the graduates’ successful completion of competency-based training in Makeup and beauty salon services, Henna application, garment making and tailoring, plumbing, furniture making, welding, house decoration and finishing. The training equipped unemployed youth with practical, industry-relevant skills to strengthen their employability, promote entrepreneurship and self-employment, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities. Graduates will also receive a startup kit from the YIELD project. The YIELD (Youth Initiative for Employment, Livelihood and Dignity) Program is implemented under the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works strategy. Young Africa Works in Ethiopia was launched in 2019 with the goal of enabling 10 million young Ethiopians, of whom 70% are young women and 10% are vulnerable youth, to access dignified and fulfilling work by 2030.
The YIELD Program is supported by the Mastercard Foundation in partnership with the Ururka Horumarinta Soomaalida and implemented by CAAP in Harawa Woreda, Somali Region.
