Today, we celebrate the love, strength, and care of mothers and mother figures everywhere.

Yesterday, Setaweet joined fellow friends, colleagues, and family at the National Museum of Ethiopia to honor and celebrate the life of Ambassador Kongit Sinegiorgis; a trailblazer whose courage, leadership, and commitment inspired generations of Ethiopian women and girls.

We are grateful to have stood in remembrance of a woman whose legacy will continue to shape the future we work toward every day.

Rest in power, Ambassador Kongit Sinegiorgis. 🕊️

ተገድዳ ወይስ “ተስማምታ”? - በጋምቤላ የ13 ዓመት ልጅ ላይ ለተፈጸመው ጥቃት የተሰጠው ፍርድ በጋምቤላ ክልል ቀጥሮ ሲያሠራት በነበረች የ13 ዓመት ልጅ ላይ “የግብረ ሥጋ ድፍረት በደል” የፈጸመ ግለሰብ የሦስት ዓመት ከ11 ወር እስር ተፈረደበት።

ተበዳይ፤ “እንደተደፈረች” ለፖሊስ እና ለፍርድ ቤት የገለጸች ሲሆን፣ ዐቃቤ ሕግ በበኩሉ መረጃዎች የሚያመለክቱት “ዕድሜዋ ካልደረሰ ልጅ ጋር”፤ “በፍላጎት” ግንኙነት እንደተፈጸመ መሆኑን ተናግሯል።

በጋምቤላ ክልል ከፍተኛ ፍርድ ቤት ሲታይ የነበረው ይህ የክስ መዝገብ ውሳኔ የተሰጠበት ባለፈው ሳምንት ማክሰኞ ሐምሌ 8/2017 ዓ.ም. ነው።

የ13 ዓመቷ ተበዳይ ወደ ፖሊስ ጣቢያ በሄደችበት ወቅት ሁለት ጊዜ “አስገድዶ መድፈር” እንደተፈጸመባት እንደገለጸች የጋምቤላ ክልል ፖሊስ የሴቶች እና ሕፃናት ጥቃት ምርመራ ኦፊሰር የሆኑት ምክትል ሳጅን ሳሙኤል አስፋው ለቢቢሲ ተናግረዋል።
