It was an honor today to be visited by H.E. Prof. Berhanu Nega, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Minister of Education. The Ministry of Education Ethiopia has been one of AddisCoder’s close partners since 2016, and our impact would not be possible without this continued collaboration.

Optimal Short-Circuit Resilient Formulas | Journal of the ACM 08/09/2022

Congrats to AddisCoder alum Michael Yitayew for having his joint work published in the Journal of the ACM, the top publication venue across all of computer science! The paper shows how to make boolean formulas resilient to faulty gates; a prelim version appeared in CCC 2019.

Optimal Short-Circuit Resilient Formulas | Journal of the ACM We consider fault-tolerant boolean formulas in which the output of a faulty gate is short-circuited to one of the gate’s inputs. A recent result by Kalai et al. [FOCS 2012] converts any boolean formula into a resilient formula of polynomial size that ...

The AddisCoder organizers have been very eager to bring AddisCoder back in Summer 2022. Unfortunately, due to some logistical difficulties, we will have to delay the program again though we have already begun working on addressing the logistical issues for 2023. Please stay tuned. We know many students were looking forward to applying to and potentially participating in the program this summer, and we are likewise disappointed that we have not been able to resume the program in 2022.
