First Consult
Since 2006, FC Africa has advanced inclusive economic growth across Africa by creating jobs, strengthening markets, and empowering enterprises.
20 years.
It's the people who showed up. The partners who believed. The work that kept us going when it was hard.
From Ethiopia to Kenya to Rwanda, FC Africa has grown because of the relationships built and the trust earned along the way.
Today we celebrate that. Not a number. Everyone who has been part of this.
Happy 20th Anniversary to FC Africa.

In many underserved markets, capital exists. Yet businesses and sectors with real potential still struggle to access financing that matches their realities.
The issue is not only availability. It is whether capital is structured in ways that fit actual market conditions.
FC Africa Investment focuses on mobilizing and structuring capital so it can be deployed where it is needed most.
This includes blended finance, investment vehicles, and strategic partnerships that channel capital into sectors and businesses often overlooked by conventional finance.
This is strengthened by FC Africa’s broader model, which brings together advisory, development, and investment, combining insight into market constraints, experience with implementation, and the ability to mobilize capital in ways that are grounded in practice.
Because the real question is not whether capital exists, but whether it is designed to work where growth is trying to happen.

FC Africa Development: Delivering in Practice
Ideas only matter if they are implemented well.
Our non-profit arm delivers programs through grants, guarantees and technical assistance, working with governments, financial institutions and delivery partners to strengthen economic systems and expand access to opportunity.
This is where strategy is tested, refined and delivered in real markets.
Over the years, this work has supported businesses, created jobs and strengthened institutions.

Understanding comes first. Good programs follow.
FC Africa Advisory focuses on research, analysis, and strategy.
This is where we work to understand markets, constraints, and opportunities, grounded in local context and practical realities.
Over the years, this has included market studies, program design, policy advisory, and strategy development for governments, financial institutions, and development partners.
We do not approach this work in isolation. Where needed, we work with partners and specialists to ensure the right expertise is applied.
This is where ideas become actionable

Africa’s story is often framed by its challenges. But the more important narrative is its opportunity.
From East to West, North to South of Africa, entrepreneurs are building, young people are gaining critical skills, and key sectors like technology, agriculture, energy, and financial services are expanding at pace.
The fundamentals are strong: a young and growing population, expanding markets, and accelerating innovation. Africa is not just progressing, it is positioning itself as a major global growth frontier.
The priority now is scale. Strengthening systems, improving access to capital, and enabling businesses to grow sustainably will be critical to unlocking the next phase of growth.
We remain optimistic about Africa’s future, not because the challenges are small, but because the opportunity is significant and the momentum is real.

Talent, ambition, and ideas are rarely the constraint.
Growth is more often shaped by the conditions around them , access to finance, workforce capabilities, and the strength of support available to enterprises.
These constraints do not sit separately. They compound, shaping not only the pace of growth, but whether it holds.

Growth doesn’t happen overnight.
It takes shape through steady work over time, small decisions, ongoing adjustments, and the discipline to keep building through constraints.
For enterprises, that means becoming stronger and more resilient step by step. For markets, it means refining systems, strengthening institutions, and creating the conditions for progress to last.

The most important work isn’t always the most visible.
Sometimes it is about improving processes, strengthening institutions, or fixing gaps that others don’t see.
Over time, those changes make everything else work better.
Long-term impact is built behind the scenes.

In the early days, our work began by sitting with businesses, listening closely and learning what it truly takes to operate across different markets.
By working alongside enterprises, institutions, and partners, we identified real challenges and meaningful gaps. Those early lessons continue to shape how we think and work today.

Some of the most useful insights didn’t come from plans.
They came from practice, what worked, what didn’t, and what needed to change.
These insights continue to shape how we design programmes and support decisions across the markets we work in.
Because better decisions are built on what works in practice.

Alongside our partners, employees, and participants, service providers play an important role in making that ecosystem work. In operations, logistics, coordination, and technical support, they help create the conditions for effective and consistent delivery.
As part of our 20 Days campaign, this is also a recognition that sustained impact depends on contributions across the full system. Progress is stronger when each part of that ecosystem is able to play its role well.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution to the challenges across different markets.
We have tested ideas, adapted approaches, and refined how we support enterprises and markets.
Some approaches worked immediately. Others took time.
Each step improved how we deliver impact.
We focus on what we understand deeply, and where we can deliver with quality.
Innovation is not a single moment. It is a continuous process.
