Link in Bio.
‼️Die größten Wellen dieses Jahres werden auf den Kanaren am Samstag den 13.12. erwartet. Bleibt weg von der Küstenlinie ‼️

🇬🇧 NO CONTRACTION FREEDIVING
This PODCAST is in German because it is for the format APNOE, the podcast of AIDA Germany.
I talk about No Contraction Freediving and why it makes a lot of sense to design your training without or only in certain phases with contractions.
Write to me and you will receive an 18-pager about NO CONTRACTION FREEDIVING in English.

ABOUT N-FILL and M-FILLL and MOUTH-FILL
The N-FILL (or N-Charge) is the conscious decision to fill only the oral cavity and throat with air to the maximum. BUT WITHOUT the cheeks.
When you pinch your nose and say the letter ‘N’, you fill the throat and a little of the mouth above the tongue but without the cheeks.
M-FILL is when you fill your mouth with the letter ‘M’. Then the air goes mainly into your cheeks.

With a full 100% mouth fill (= cheeks+oral cavity+throat), the air in the cheeks is used up the fastest. In other words, the second half and the end of every mouth fill is the N-fill.
Unfortunately, the mouth fill is taught too early in all course systems.
The result is that many freedivers reach 32-42 meters with an insufficient mouth-fill technique and then don't progress any further. The reason is that they have never learnt: Firstly, to fill or charge correctly and secondly and most important, to manage the second half of the mouth fill perfectly. The second part of the mouth fill is always the quantity you would charge with an N-FILL only.
In individual training programmes we just do a single N-fill. With one “N” we dive up to 50m, but at least up to 40m.
80% of the training is at depths below 30 meters. Only when the N-fill has been mastered we start to train the full mouth-fill with cheeks, oral cavity and throat. The result is that you reach 50 meters with a fat reserve in your mouth. Then of course you still have an ‘endless’ reserve for everything below 50 meters. N-fill training also has a number of psychological advantages. Because at shallow depths you can easily get used to remaining completely relaxed at your failure depth (equalization limit). Means beautiful dives also at the end of equalization.
ATTENTION: Do not confuse the N-fill with reverse packs (grouper call). With a reverse pack, you suck air into the throat with a quick tongue movement. With an N-fill, you push air into the oropharynx through a longer open glottis using the diaphragm.
Contact us if you want to perfect your equalization or if you like to learn to dive without contractions. SINK POSITIVE.
