Lara Ordóñez recibe el Premio Alfons Roig de Artes Visuales 2026 otorgado por la Diputació de València.

La artista de Vangar ha sido reconocida con el premio al mejor proyecto artístico por una obra que, a través de los lenguajes textiles, explora cuestiones tan universales como la memoria, la identidad y el paso del tiempo.

El jurado ha valorado especialmente del trabajo de Lara Ordóñez su originalidad, así como la capacidad de la artista para establecer una relación cercana y directa con el espectador a través de apertura espacial y su constante experimentación con los formatos. Asimismo, ha subrayado la manera en que la obra reivindica las tradiciones y los materiales vinculados a nuestro territorio, reinterpretándolos desde lenguajes artísticos contemporáneos de gran solidez conceptual. La propuesta sobresale también por su contribución a la preservación y transmisión de saberes y formas de conocimiento, integrándolos en una práctica artística innovadora, de marcado carácter experimental e innovador.

The Provincial Council of Valencia has awarded Lara Ordóñez the 2026 Alfons Roig Prize for Visual Arts.

The artist, represented by Vangar, has been honored for her artistic project, which explores universal themes such as memory, identity, and the passage of time through the language of textiles.

The jury particularly valued the originality of Ordóñez’s work and her ability to establish a close and direct relationship with viewers through spatial openness and constant experimentation with formats. The jury also highlighted how the work champions the traditions and materials of our region by reinterpreting them through contemporary artistic languages of great conceptual depth. The project stands out for its contribution to preserving and transmitting knowledge and ways of understanding by integrating them into an innovative artistic practice with a distinctly experimental character.

Los artistas de Vangar, Lluc Margrau y Claudia Pastomás, participan en la exposición Breve historia de una pasión. Colección Avelino Marín, inaugurada ayer en el Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània de Valencia, con su obra Ensayo para un espacio.

Comisariada por Juan Peiró, la muestra ofrece una aproximación a una de las colecciones privadas más importantes del panorama nacional. La Colección Avelino Marín cuenta con más de 1.800 obras de arte y objetos, desde cerámica, pasando por dibujo, vídeo, fotografía, pintura, hasta escultura e instalación. La exposición presenta cerca de un centenar de piezas y establece un recorrido que conecta a maestros históricos como Rembrandt, Manet o Matisse con artistas contemporáneos, reflejando el carácter ecléctico, diverso y apasionado de una colección que desborda los límites convencionales del coleccionismo.

Lluc Margrau and Claudia Pastomás are participating in the exhibition A Brief History of a Passion: The Avelino Marín Collection, which opened yesterday at the Centre del Carme Cultural Contemporània in Valencia. They are presenting their work, Ensayo para un espacio.

Curated by Juan Peiró, the exhibition introduces one of the most significant private collections in Spain. The collection features more than 1,800 artworks and objects ranging from ceramics and drawings to video, photography, painting, sculpture, and installation. The exhibition presents nearly a hundred pieces and charts a path connecting historical masters such as Rembrandt, Manet, and Matisse with contemporary artists. This reflects the collection’s eclectic and diverse nature, which transcends the conventional boundaries of collecting.

The exhibition will be on display until September 27 at the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània (CCCC) in Valencia.

En su nueva serie Pleomorfa, Sarah Viguer Cebriá crea un ecosistema de esculturas que, al igual que las mitocondrias, son capaces de interactuar entre sí, comunicarse, establecer vínculos y transformarse dentro de un sistema de relaciones. Para ello emplea materiales diversos —tierra, metal, tejido y caucho— cuyas cualidades permiten una constante mutación formal. Sus piezas se despliegan en un diorama de cuerpos flotantes: un sistema biológico que, más que representar un universo microscópico distante, propone la presencia de un inframundo orgánico que rodea y envuelve al espectador.

Today is the last day to visit ARCOlisboa, where we are presenting works by Elena Núñez Mallén and Sarah Viguer Cebriá in the Opening section, curated by Sofía Lanusse and Diogo Pinto, with curatorial assistance from Sofia Montanha.

In her new series, Pleomorpha, Sarah Viguer Cebriá creates an ecosystem of sculptures that interact with one another like mitochondria. These sculptures communicate, form connections, and transform within a network of relationships. She employs a range of materials—earth, metal, textile, and rubber—whose properties allow for continuous formal mutation to achieve this. Her works unfold within a diorama of floating bodies, forming a biological system that evokes the presence of an organic underworld surrounding and enveloping the viewer rather than representing a distant microscopic universe.

The project proposes a dialogue in which both artists explore, through media such as painting, textiles, and ceramics, ways of visualizing the invisible: fear, energy, instinct, or the body’s internal flows. Their work evokes a sense of unease and instability, with latent tensions, mutations and constant shifts permeating the image and matter.

El viernes 22 de mayo, a partir de las 19.00, Vangar inaugura Intangible de la artista Bea Bonafini, la primera exposición individual de la artista italiana en España.

En su práctica, lo animal y lo humano se entrelazan en un proceso constante de transformación. Nada permanece fijo: todo se desplaza, se convierte y se reconfigura. Sus obras atraviesan ideas de nacimiento, muerte y metamorfosis como parte de un mismo ciclo vital, donde lo corporal, lo simbólico y lo onírico conviven sin límites claros.

La exposición incluye un ensayo crítico de F***y Borel, comisaria en el MAXXI L’Aquila.

Vangar is pleased to present Intangible, Bea Bonafini’s first solo exhibition in Spain. The exhibition opens on Friday, 22 May.

Bonafini’s practice proposes transformation through shifts in perception. Her works ask us to reconsider fixed categories and to embrace states of becoming, metamorphosis, and fluidity. Animal, vegetal, and anthropomorphic forms intertwine throughout the exhibition. Nothing appears static; instead, Bonafini’s universe is defined by perpetual motion and unfinished processes. Her works evoke birth, sexuality, death, and renewal, suggesting that endings are never final but part of an ongoing cycle of transformation. They speak of migration of souls, dreams, desire, and the mysterious forces that bind bodies and beings together.

The exhibition features a critical essay by F***y Borel, curator at MAXXI L’Aquila.

Últimos días para visitar la exposición Flora bajo el asfalto, de Adrián Jorques, en Vangar.

El proceso detrás de Flora bajo el asfalto comienza fuera del estudio. Durante meses el artista recorrió el paisaje de Valpark, observando las huellas que el tiempo, el abandono y la vegetación dejan sobre el territorio. Texturas, grietas, fragmentos de caminos, restos de estructuras o superficies erosionadas se convierten en puntos de partida para el trabajo en el taller.

A partir de esas imágenes y registros se inicia un proceso de traducción al lenguaje plástico donde aparecen capas, veladuras, marcas y acumulaciones que terminan dando forma a las obras.

There are only a few days left to visit Adrián Jorques’s exhibition, Flora bajo el asfalto, at Vangar.

The process behind Flora bajo el asfalto begins outside the studio. For months, the artist explored Valpark’s landscape, observing the traces that time, neglect, and vegetation leave on the land. Textures, cracks, fragments of paths, remnants of structures, and eroded surfaces became the basis for his studio work.

From these images and records, a process of translating them into a visual language begins, resulting in layers, glazes, marks, and accumulations that ultimately shape the works.

Visit Adrián Jorques’ exhibition at Vangar until Friday, May 8.
