Mercado Central de Valencia 27/03/2015

The conference has begun! But before it started we made our way to the Central Market of Valencia, and it is spectacular! The iron, glass and ceramic domes are – in a word – stunning. This market is considered one of the oldest European markets still running. We found an abundance of food vendors, a few souvenir shops and restaurants as well.

DAY THREE: Mercado Ribeira, Lisbon, Portugal 23/03/2015

As we wait for the conference to begin, we hopped over to Lisbon to check out Mercado Ribeira. On one side you have a hip urban food court with top chefs serving until the wee hours. On the other side you have a traditional early morning market. One side opens when the other side closes. While the market building is more than a century old, this dining/shopping concept is less than a year old. Looks like it's thriving!

More From La Boqueria, Barcelona 21/03/2015

DAY TWO: La Boqueria continues to be a great place for people watching and gawking at the amazing selection of food so artfully displayed.

Did you know Barcelona has over 40 public markets which receive an average of 68 million visitors a year? They are a vital part of Barcelona's economy and identity.

La Boqueria, Barcelona 2015 20/03/2015

We made it to Barcelona! Our first stop was at Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria (“La Boqueria”), a city market located next to La Rambla pedestrian mall. Dating back to 1217, La Boqueria is as colorful as it is lively. WARNING: these photos may induce hunger pains.

We’ll have more photos from our trip as we await the International Public Market Conference. Check back soon!
