BAUM LAB

Synapse House is an experimental housing project that advocates for open domestic interactions. Its star-shaped floor plan
organizes domestic uses around two interconnected halls, illuminated from skylights. Like in neuronal network, several
branches spread out from the nucleus towards the exterior. Every space is, thus, intimately connected with the garden, in
some sort of architectural synapse. Two L-shaped, timber-made, bodies provide the interior with bathrooms, closets and
kitchen, as they articulate the domestic fluxes around the skylighted halls.
Built with an insulated double concrete shell, the building optimizes the use of materials and their bioclimatic performance.
In response to the classical question: How much does you building weigh? the answer would be that it weighs less than a
half of what would be expected, with three times more thermal insulation. .fuser

Llevamos unos meses mordiéndonos la lengua, porque aún no podía presentarse oficialmente… pero ahora podemos contaros que ganó el primer premio en el concurso para rehabilitar el mercado de abastos de Úbeda, un edificio catalogado del primer movimiento moderno. For some months, we’ve been holding our tongue, because it was not official yet. But we can finally say that won the competition to rehabilitate Úbeda’s central market, a listed building from the early modern style period.

For some months, we’ve been holding our tongue, because it was not official yet. But we can finally say that BAUM LAB] won the competition to rehabilitate Úbeda’s central market, a listed building from the early modern style period.

En este proyecto, decidimos mantener la antigua entrada de servicio como acceso independiente a la zona del dormitorio del hijo. Pronto será adolescente y aún no sabe que nunca nos podrá estar suficientemente agradecido. El buen diseño cambia nuestras vidas 🤟🏻In this project we kept the old staff’s service door as an independent access to the son’s bedroom area. He is now about to become a teenager and he still doesn’t know that he’ll never be able to be thankful enough for that. 🤟🏻Good design changes our lives.

Trabajar las transiciones entres espacios es clave: en los espacios domésticos: una combinación armónica de materiales, privacidades bien definidas, perspectivas… Working on the transition of spaces is a key point for domestic spaces: a harmonious materials combination, well-defined privacy filters, perspectives…
