We’re proud to announce the successful completion of the 3R Pilot House, demonstrating that circular construction 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 - 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁.

Designed by the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Civil Engineering, and manufactured and assembled by evrobrod doo and Penta Ge.Co. Construction. , the pilot showcases a range of innovative, reusable structural solutions, including:

♻️ Prefabricated concrete columns, walls, and foundations made with 100% coarse recycled aggregate

♻️ Composite slabs on profiled steel sheeting using low-clinker cement and recycled aggregate concrete

♻️ Reused steel frames

♻️ Masonry walls built with reused bricks and a recycled rubber seismic infill layer

𝗥𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀 + 𝗦𝗲𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗔 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗿𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀

What if masonry infill walls were no longer permanent, single-use elements, but flexible assets that can be disassembled, moved, and fully reused?

As part of the CircBoost project, we are r𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 by proving that the circular economy and advanced earthquake engineering can go hand in hand.

Our latest focus tackles one of construction's biggest waste streams: 𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻.

By combining reclaimed bricks with the innovative INODIS (Innovative Decoupling Infill System) connection, we have unlocked a way to build masonry infill walls that are entirely demountable and movable.

Here is 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁:

• 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗽: Giving a second life to old bricks drastically reduces raw material consumption and diverts tons of demolition waste from landfills.

• 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗲𝗿: The INODIS system utilizes high-performance connection profiles engineered from recycled rubber, preventing high-purity materials from being wasted.

• 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲-𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗢𝟮 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: We achieve massive carbon savings on two fronts-first, by avoiding the high-emission manufacturing process of new clay bricks, and second, by preventing structural collapse during earthquakes, which eliminates the carbon-heavy cycle of post-disaster rebuilding.

• 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁-𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The recycled rubber connection structurally decouples the masonry infill from the surrounding reinforced concrete frame. This drastically reduces seismic damage, absorbs energy, and ensures the wall remains safe and intact during severe earthquakes.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆-𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
