IgG1 is the most abundant form of IgG in serum. It is a very important immunoglobulin in mediating antibody responses against viral infections.
It has neutralising capacity against SARS-CoV-2 (ability to bind complement and also to bind with high affinity to Fc receptors on immune system cells such as macrophages and NK cells) and can activate the destruction of virus-infected cells.

IgA is an immunoglobulin found in abundance in the mucosal lining fluids of the nose, pharynx, bronchi and lungs, making it a first barrier in the neutralisation of viruses entering via the airborne route.

IgM provides the first protection in response to infection. It is able to activate the destruction of infected cells, however, it is a low affinity immunoglobulin, i.e. it does not bind very strongly to viruses and is weak in its neutralising capacity.
