Another successful crane compliance project completed aboard M/Y Haze².

Our team recently carried out a crane cable replacement followed by a proof load test using a 2,500kg water weight test bag to verify the system's safe operation and lifting performance.

A straightforward job on paper, but one that requires careful planning, accurate load application and close attention to every component in the lifting system.

The RSB Rigging & Load Testing team carried out the inspection and load testing of a custom tender spreader bar commissioned by Bravo Design Group and manufactured by Palma Composites.

The spreader bar was successfully tested to 2 x Working Load Limit (WLL) in accordance with EN 13155:2025, verifying the integrity of the structure and its suitability for service.

Load testing forms a critical part of the commissioning process for bespoke lifting equipment, providing documented verification that the system performs as intended under controlled test conditions before entering operation.

A great example of collaboration between design, manufacturing and independent verification to deliver a safe and compliant lifting solution.

Heading into the season, or coming out of it, is the right time to revisit installations, lifting systems and safety equipment that may not have been inspected closely for some time.

The biggest issues are often the ones hidden beneath the surface, particularly after a heavy operational period.

The project included a new diamond stay supplied by BSI, new martingale rods with custom end fittings manufactured by Unic Marine, a full paint job, and replacement of various halyards throughout the rig.

A lot of moving parts across this one, with different suppliers, fabrication work and rigging systems all needing to align properly before the mast went back under load.
