Let´s get our affairs in order.

As foreigners with assets abroad we often think that because we are up to date back “home” that will be sufficient should anything unfortunately happen to us.
In principle this is true to a certain point, however ……..
• Not having a will with your assets in Spain duly registered here will not only delay everything and complicate an already sad time for your beneficiaries but will also cost more money to resolve.
• Costs: The cost of making a will in Spain depending on the assets can cost as little as 250€, including our legal advice and the deed.
• Once you have everything in order make sure you designate someone with the contacts necessary or indeed copies of any foreign asset wills made. This will also help them.
Please contact us to arrange an appointment and also remember if you have a will set up but there have been a change in your circumstances we can also help with that and amend the Will.
Finally, Spain is different!
In Spain when someone passes away, they are buried within 48 hours, unless of very specific circumstances.
The funeral directors will immediately take over BUT they will demand payment upon collection of the deceased, this could be around 2000€.
Having a funeral plan can avoid all this hassle. The funeral plans available, they organize repatriation, delay the funeral for family to get here should this be the choice, they handle all the arrangements, flowers, service everything all in your language. Out of personal experience believe me this is an absolute blessing.

When you buy an item that you plan to bring over or take back, please make sure the shop is aware it is a “duty free” item with tax to be paid at your destination! El corte ingles have signs up and can inform you and many of the other luxury shops should also inform you!
