For years, one of the quieter but most essential parts of Thinger.io has been the layer that handles every HTTP and WebSocket connection across the platform. It is the code that powers communications between devices, APIs and users, and the same code that runs inside the ThinRemote agent to enable secure remote access to Linux devices.
👉🏻 That piece now has a name of its own, and it is publicly available: thinger-http
It is a modern C++20 library built on Boost.Asio, with coroutine support, HTTP server and client, WebSockets, Server-Sent Events, and TLS/SSL. This is not an experiment or a side project: it is part of the core we run in production every day across different Thinger.io products.
👇🏻 You can explore the full details here:
https://thinger.io/thinger-http/
👉🏻 Opening the code lets people review it, question it, and improve it, and we think that strengthens both the people who use it and the ecosystem around it.
If you work on distributed systems, IoT platforms or high-performance networking in C++, we think you will find it interesting, and we would love to hear your feedback. 🚀

How do you simulate the behavior of an IoT system before deployment?
⚠️ In well-designed architectures, validating system behavior is not optional.
At thinger.io, we take a deeper look into the role of simulation in IoT systems and show a practical example of how AI can help recreate system behavior and test different scenarios before deployment.

We’re proud to share that Thinger.io IoT Platform has been chosen as one of only 10 organizations selected from more than 350 applicants to join the Giga Accelerator Programme, the UNICEF + International Telecommunication Union, initiative working to connect every school —and every child— to the Internet. 🚀
As part of the programme, we’ll contribute two open-source developments designed to strengthen scalable and affordable connectivity in low-resource environments:
• Thinger.io client for Zephyr RTOS – enabling secure, low-power, native connectivity on Zephyr-based devices.
• Chipstark integration within our LoRaWAN Network Server plugins – improving monitoring, configuration and interoperability for LoRaWAN deployments supporting schools and communities.
It’s an honour to be part of a global effort helping bridge the digital divide and bring reliable connectivity to the children who need it most.

Over-the-air (OTA) updates are essential for any IoT deployment — but unstable networks can turn them into a challenge.
With the new Thinger.io VS Code Remote OTA 1.1.5, you now have precise control over every step of the process, even in poor connectivity environments.
🔧What’s new:
• thinger-io.otaTimeout — set your own timeout per device or network.
• thinger-io.otaBlockSize — adjust the data block size for slow or unreliable connections.
💡 The result: safer, more reliable firmware updates — perfectly adapted to real-world IoT conditions. Ideal for industrial, rural, or large-scale deployments.
Develop, compile, and update your firmware directly from the cloud with the Thinger.io VS Code Plugin.
