Miss Rosa Spanish Lessons
Hola! I'm Miss Rosa and I'm a Spanish Teacher. I'm glad to have you here!
It's been a looong way since my first courses and diplomas on teaching Spanish.. does someone else feel 100% different?
Nowadays I focus way more on building a student - teacher connection, setting the fundamentals of the language and making the student feel comfortable speaking. Sometimes that means giving them the grammar rules, and sometimes the full phrases ready to be used.
Every case is its own universe, and I adapt to each from my own perspective on teaching and learning. And still, I do not teach the way I learned how to teach. For me it wasn't working out.
Spanish is giving you another break? Yay! These are words that are written and mean exactly the same in English and in Spanish, and only their pronunciation changes. Super easy to learn and use.
Remember in Spanish or vowels only have one sound each- 5 vowels, 5 sounds.
A as in "father"
E as in "elephant"
I as in "ski"
O as in "boy"
U as in "flute"
Try to say the vowels in the shortest way possible - think about adding an h at the end. So it's not "ouu", it's "oh".

I'm moving to NYC! And on my first trip there, here are some things that shocked me.
I'm taking English lessons as well and taking new ideas for my Spanish lessons 😏 Ilove being a language student again, just as much as I love teaching.
Relocating is sooo hard! Good luck I have my amazing husband to do this with 🥹
What was the hardest thing for you about moving abroad? I think I'm going to miss my family and lifelong friends the most 🙈
Spanish is giving you a break 🥺🙌🏼
Aaaall these words can be translated to "picar" in Spanish. Isn't it great?
Tocar puede significar muchas cosas! Aquí hay varios significados.
Es una de esas palabras "comodín" que aparecen en muchas situaciones 🙌🏼
These are some words that I'm always repeating in class because students find them so hard to pronounce!
Es de esos temas que tanto como si aprendes español o aprendes ingles, SIEMPRE es confuso. Yo intento pensar que "A" de "antes" va "before" la D, por eso, Antes significa Before. Pero... Escucho estrategias 😅

A medida que el nivel de los estudiantes de español se incrementa, también lo hace el vocabulario y las estructuras gramaticales disponibles para expresarse. Por eso, mientras un nativo tiene un gran repertorio de estructuras y la sensación de libertad y comodidad de elegir, los nativos de otros idiomas (como el inglés) tienen que hacer un esfuerzo conciente por expresarse con mayor detalle y corrección para obtener la información que necesitan.
A friend who hasn't been your friend for that long / you are building your core memories together / you are still getting to know each other -> TE QUIERO
.. is what you'd say to your romantic partner.
A friend with whom you have a deep connection / who understands you deeply / that you love profoundly -> TE AMO
..is what you'd say to your romantic partner.
Remember that you can say both Te Quiero and Te Amo to friends, family and loved ones, they are not restricted to romantic relationships.
❤️
I honestly didn't know the difference! Thank you to my student for bringing it up.
