SYNPOL - Biopolymers from Syngas Fermentation SYNPOL aims to propel the sustainable production of new biopolymers from feedstock.

SYNPOL will thereto establish a platform that integrates biopolymer production through modern processing technologies, with bacterial fermentation of syngas, and the pyrolysis of highly complex biowaste (e.g., municipal, commercial, sludge, agricultural). The R&D activities will focus on the integration of innovative physico-chemical, biochemical, downstream and synthetic technologies to produce a

SYNPOL and BioConSepT – Two approaches – same aim

To increase their visibility the FP7 projects BioConSepT and SYNPOL have joined forces in dissemination activities.

Both projects aim to integrate production (fermentation) and separation technologies for the cost-effective commercial synthesis of high added-value biopolymers. While SYNPOL uses biowaste to produce syngas, which is then fermented, BioConSepT focuses on second generation biomass like wood and non-edible oils as feedstock.

Extracting Valuable Resources From Waste To Make New Bioplastics (CORDIS) — An old British phrase states that ‘where there’s muck, there’s brass’ – meaning that where there are dirty jobs to be done there is money to be made. This rings true to this day where many valuable resources can be recovered from waste products. Municipal solid waste (MSW), agricultural r...
