Bono’s stage name was inspired by a hearing aid store in Dublin called Bonavox, which is Latin for “Good Voice.” Growing up in north Dublin, Paul Hewson was part of a group of friends who created a “surrealistic street gang” and called themselves Lypton Village—as a protest against the conservative society they were living in. His friends nicknamed him Bonavox. Over time, Bono dropped the “vox” and just went by Bono.

The Ha’Penny Bridge, officially known as the Liffey Bridge, is one of Dublin’s most iconic landmarks. Built in 1816, this beautiful cast-iron pedestrian bridge spans the River Liffey, connecting North Dublin to South Dublin. Its name comes from the original toll of half a penny (a ha’penny) charged to cross. Before its construction, ferries transported people across the river. Today, it’s a cherished symbol of Dublin, offering picturesque views and a historic charm that attracts both locals and tourists alike.
