Shenseea, born Chinsea Lee on October 1, 1996, in Jamaica, is a dancehall artist known for her high-energy performances, sharp lyricism, and genre-blending sound. She first gained attention with her remix of Vybz Kartel’s Loodi in 2016 and quickly became a force in dancehall, collaborating with artists like Sean Paul, Megan Thee Stallion, and Kanye West. With hits like Blessed and ShenYeng Anthem, she has expanded her reach beyond Jamaica, fusing reggae, hip-hop, and pop influences. In 2021, she became the first woman in over 25 years to win a MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act. March is Women’s History Month! We’re kicking things off by celebrating Sister Nancy, the trailblazing Jamaican dancehall DJ and singer. Born Ophlin Russell on January 2, 1962, she made history as the first female dancehall DJ and remained a dominant voice in the genre for over two decades. Best known for iconic tracks like Bam Bam, One Two, and Transport Connection, her influence continues to shape music today. Want to learn more about her journey?
