Telephone English - it seems we call less and less these days, but these expressions are still valid.

You are not behind. 🌱
Stop putting pressure on yourself because your English isn’t where you think it should be.
Language learning isn’t a race.
Some days you’ll feel confident.
Other days you’ll forget the simplest word and wonder whether you’re improving at all.
You are.
Instead of constantly looking at how far you still have to go, look back.
How much more do you understand?
What can you say now that you couldn’t say before?
What feels easier?
That is progress.
Learning English is hard — and you don’t have to do it alone. The right teacher can give you structure, encouragement and a safe place to practise until confidence starts to grow.
So stop worrying about being “behind”.
You are exactly where you are — and from here, you can keep moving forward.
If you’re ready for your next step, message me about classes.

I have to confess to not knowing this word before …. A great find, though I hope I don’t need to ever use it as it’s not for happy circumstances….. .. some background information about the word from ChatGPT - Zemblanity is the opposite of serendipity: the experience of making an unhappy, unlucky, and often predictable discovery. The word was coined by novelist William Boyd in Armadillo (1998). It sometimes implies that the unfortunate result was produced by our own deliberate actions—or that we went looking for something and found exactly the bad news we feared. World Wide Words

Your teacher can help you.
But your teacher can’t do it for you.
Learning English takes work.
Some days you’ll feel confident.
Some days you’ll forget words you know you know.
Sometimes it really will feel like one step forward and two steps back.
Keep going.
A good teacher gives you structure, feedback, encouragement and support.
But you bring the effort.
You practise.
You make mistakes.
You try again.
You build the habit.
And slowly, something changes.
You speak more easily.
You hesitate less.
Your communication skills become stronger.
You don’t need to feel motivated every day. You need to keep showing up.
If you’re ready to put in the work, I’d be very happy to help you make that work count.
