Brand design details for Toji a new winter apparel brand.
Toji means winter solstice. It is one of the 24 seasons in the ancient Japanese calendar.
For this design brief I took inspiration from the Japanese flag with its crimson red circle. I wanted to incorporate this distinct feature into the logo and brand design to pay homage to the brand’s origin. The overall look has a cool modern clean winter vibe for products to be worn on the street or in the mountains.

Toji significa solsticio de invierno. Es una de las 24 temporadas del antiguo calendario japonés.
Para este diseño me inspiré en la bandera japonesa con su círculo rojo. Quise incorporar este rasgo distintivo al logotipo y al diseño de la marca para rendir homenaje a su origen. El aspecto general tiene un aire invernal moderno y limpio para productos que se pueden llevar en la calle o en la montaña.

The golden rules of simple clean design are to be honest and clear, stay away from trends be timeless and take your time until you get it just right. Think hard about what you are going to leave out of a design. It’s not an easy process but the more you attempt it the more you’ll understand what works and what doesn’t.
