📣The VALORISH Project partners met in for its General Assembly and Review Meeting.

🔵Blue Synergy was pleased to take part in the latest VALORISH activities in Trondheim, Norway, where the consortium came together for an in-person meeting hosted by SINTEF - We thank the SINTEF team for hosting the consortium and ensuring such a productive meeting.

Representing Blue Synergy, our Sustainability Engineer, Patricio Ivan Cano Santana, and our Social Researcher & Communication Specialist, Julio Morales Daza, joined partners for a valuable exchange on the project’s progress, ongoing technical work, and upcoming milestones.

✅Over the course of the meeting, the consortium reviewed recent developments across the project and aligned on the way forward to advance sustainable and circular approaches for the valorisation of fish processing side streams. The activities in Trondheim also included the VALORISH review meeting. We are grateful to Project Officer, Stefania Rocca, and external reviewer, Joana Carvalho, for participating and sharing constructive feedback to support the project’s continued development.

🗞️Last week, two members of the CIRCULARIS Biocluster, the VALORISH Project and the PROMISEANG Project, held a dedicated workshop at the EUBCE - European Biomass Conference & Exhibition 2026.

During the session Blue Synergy SL's Social Researcher, Julio Morales Daza, and Sustainability Engineer, Patricio Ivan Cano Santana; co-cordinators of VALORISH and IDENER.AI representatives Marta Franco de Benito and Akanksha Mishra; and PROMISEANG Project partner, Alicia Paz, shared presentations on:

✅ An overview of the VALORISH project
✅ An overview of the PROMISEANG project
✅ Multi-scale computational strategies for bioprocesses assessments
✅ Marine resources valorization: technologies and applications from Promiseang
✅ Application and incorporation of sustainable and bioeconomy approaches for fish waste

The workshop provided a valuable space to exchange knowledge, address key challenges, and connect with researchers and stakeholders committed to advancing a more sustainable and circular .

🗞️VALORISH at EUBCE - European Biomass Conference & Exhibition

👏We are pleased to share that our Sustainability Engineer, Patricio Ivan Cano Santana, participated in the on behalf of the VALORISH Project, where he presented an oral communication on the preliminary results of the (LCA) conducted within the project.

✅This work forms part of VALORISH’s holistic assessment under WP6. The LCA analysis is led by our partner IDENER, with Blue Synergy contributing to the goal and scope definition, as well as data compilation.

➡️During the presentation, Patricio shared the scenarios recently reported in Deliverable D6.1, submitted last month. These included analyses of conventional fish waste management practices, selected as the benchmark scenario, as well as preliminary results from processes for the production of fish oil, proteins, astaxanthin, collagen, and hydroxyapatite.

🔵At Blue Synergy SL, we are proud to support the integration of sustainability assessment into innovative circular solutions, helping to evaluate the environmental performance of pathways and their potential contribution to more sustainable value chains.

🗞️The New Wave project has officially come to its conclusion, marking the end of four years of collaborative work toward a more sustainable, circular, and bio-based future for the construction and chemical sectors.

💡Throughout the project, the consortium demonstrated the potential of transforming biomass residues, such as sawdust and end-of-life wood products, into high-performance bio-based materials and chemical building blocks. NewWave helped advance innovative alternatives to fossil-based and hazardous substances, while supporting the transition toward safer and more recyclable industrial value chains.

🔵Blue Synergy is strengthening SSH expertise in Horizon Europe collaborations!

💡Our Social Researcher and Communications Specialist, Julio Morales, recently participated in the online brokerage event “Artificial Intelligence in Horizon Europe calls: an interdisciplinary challenge,” organized through the Net4Society Cluster 2 Community Platform. 👥The event brought together researchers, innovators, and stakeholders from across Europe to explore upcoming Horizon Europe opportunities and foster collaborations between STEM and Social Sciences & Humanities (SSH) experts.

🙌During the event, participants had the opportunity to learn about AI-related topics in the Horizon Europe 2026–2027 work programme, exchange ideas with potential partners, and engage in matchmaking sessions aimed at building strong interdisciplinary consortia. 📌These interactions highlighted the growing importance of integrating human-centered perspectives, ethics, and societal impact considerations into technological innovation.

➡️For Blue Synergy, participating in this brokerage event was an important step in showcasing the company’s Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) expertise, particularly in areas such as social impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, public perception analysis, and communication strategies within EU-funded projects. 🔝As Horizon Europe increasingly requires meaningful SSH integration, Blue Synergy is actively positioning itself as a partner capable of bridging the gap between technological innovation and societal needs.
