DECRAPIFYING YOUR SMARPHONE: PART 2
Following on from last week’s discussion, this Thursday, June 18 (10.45 for 11.00 am), we’ll look at hot topìcs, such as installing the new GVA Salut app for managing hospital appointments, digital certificates, clarifying what’s on your phone and what’s in the cloud, and any other problems members have encountered with their smart phones. Our phones seem to be full of apps we never use, as well as apps which duplicate what other apps do and those which drive you mad by forcing ads to pop up all over the place. This Thursday 11 June (10.45 for 11.00 am), we’ll discuss how to clean out garbage apps and organise those you do need so that you can actually find them. The Power of the Prompt
More and more people are using Generative AI such as ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek and Claude to help organise their daily lives. As the saying goes, “Garbage in, Garbage out”, and the quality of the responses you get from these chatbots depends largely on how you prompt them. This Thursday, June 4, (10.45 for 11.00 am), we will try out some tips to get the best results, see whether they make any difference and compare the outputs of competing AI models.

SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER - "DESIGNING AI FOR PEACE AND MENTAL HEALTH" AN OPPORTUNITY NOT TO BE MISSED|
Thursday presentations are open to non-members 5€ p.p. We are fortunate that Philip Baerfuss has agreed to come and talk to us this Thursday 21 May (10.45 for 11 a.m.) to give us a different perspective about how AI could help all of us. This promises to be a very interesting talk. He will tell us about how AI can actually help us to promote a peace and health ln our everyday lives – and where the industry is silently heading into a wall.
Philip is the founder of da.care, which is based in Switzerland, with planned expansion to Javea. He will share the story of how the company came to be, what he sees as broken in the AI industry today, and how his team is trying to do things differently. In particular using an AI App model based on providing user value rather than doom scrolling for commercial value.
Expect no hype and no doom. Just an honest look at where AI genuinely is going and what he believes we can expect.

MY AI ASSISTANT WILL CONTACT YOU NOW!
It's quite easy to make your own AI Assistant/Agent for free. They can run your computer, create documents, send e-mails etc. Unfortunately, they tend to come off the rails and do crazy things sometimes. This Thursday, May 14 (10.45 for 11 am), we’ll watch a short video by British mathematician cm broadcaster, Prof Hannah Fry in which she describes what happened when she built and used an AI Agent. Then we’ll discuss the implications of these recent developments and how they may shape our future. Chris will also look at Gemma 4 – a free app from Google which, among other things, can help you build an AI Agent on your PC.

INSIDE THE ART OF AI MOVIE MAKING
AI video used to be glaringly bad. But this is changing fast. This Thursday, May 7 (10.45 for 11.00 am), we will watch a fascinating short video in which a creator walks us, step by step, through the entire process he used to make a four-minute movie. Applying a variety of AI tools and software, he provides a workflow that others can copy. He also summarises how much his project cost. GETTING CREATIVE AND HAVING FUN WITH GOOGLE EARTH.
There are three versions of Google Earth: Desktop, Web and mobile – each has its own cool features. This week, on Thursday April 30 (10.45 for 11 a.m.), we will explore how to be creative with the desktop and web-based versions. A DIVE INTO GOOGLE DOCS, SHEETS AND SLIDES
Google provides a free office suite for Google account holders. This includes a wordprocessor, spreadsheet and slide show creator. Files can be shared, edited online or offline and are accessible from any device logged in with your Google account. This Thursday, 23 April,(10.45 for 11 a.m.), we’ll put the Google Office suite (now called Google Workspace) through its paces, and discover the interesting and useful things it can do. HOW CAN I DOWNLOAD PHOTOS FROM MY PHONE?
This question is frequently asked by JCC Members. Some want to save storage space, others to back them up to external drives and others to organise and manage the photos on their PCs. There are several methods, but which one is best for you? This Thursday, April 16 (10.45 for 11 a.m.) we’ll discuss members’ requirements and examine some options.
