Sorry for the radio silence — September has been a wonderfully busy month here at Hike Pyrenees!

We’ve had lots of guests out exploring the mountains with us, so social media has taken a little bit of a back seat while we’ve been busy on the trails.

Our latest post takes us back to Ordesa National Park, where we discovered once again that it’s often the smallest moments that stay with us the longest — from butterflies and bearded vultures to big views, personal achievements and plenty of laughter along the way.

A wonderful few days exploring the Priorat. A beautiful area full of history, scenery and steep vineyards. We had a history tour of Siruana - the last Moorish outpost in Catalunya, wine tours of the Escala Dei and cooperative vineyards, evening meals in tranquil rural locations and finished off with an olive oil tasting and a traditional Catalan lunch.

August is a little quieter for our guided holidays, so it’s a good moment to look back at some of our recent adventures in the Pyrenees.

Over the last few weeks we’ve been exploring high summits, mountain lakes, hidden valleys and beautiful villages on both sides of the border, with plenty of good company along the way.

Our latest blog follows a wonderful week exploring Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park with guests from the UK, Ireland and the USA - including one traveller who came all the way from Hawaii - for their first taste of the Pyrenees.

From shady forest paths and crystal-clear rivers to the peaceful Bujaruelo Valley and the panoramic summit of Pico Pelopín, each day revealed a different side of this spectacular corner of the mountains.

There were wildflowers, waterfalls, soaring birds of prey, plenty of sunshine and, most importantly, lots of laughter along the trails.

It may be sweltering outside, but we’ve found that thinking about snow makes it feel at least a couple of degrees cooler… ❄️😅

Our 2027 Snowshoeing holiday dates are now available to book, the trip is on the 21 - 28 February 2027.

July has been a wonderfully busy month so far!

Over the past few weeks, we’ve welcomed guided groups, private parties and self-guided walkers across the Pyrenees and the Picos de Europa. From high mountain trails and peaceful lakes to flower-filled meadows, traditional villages and spectacular limestone landscapes, it has been fantastic to see so many people enjoying their summer walking holidays.

And there is still plenty more to come before the month is over!

Our first French Pyrenees holiday was much more than a week of spectacular walking. It was a journey into the birthplace of Pyreneism, following in the footsteps of the explorers, writers and mountaineers who first fell in love with these mountains over two centuries ago.

From the magnificent cirques of Gavarnie, Troumouse and Estaubé to the shores of Lake Gaube beneath Vignemale, every day combined unforgettable landscapes with the remarkable stories that have shaped the history of the Pyrenees. It’s a holiday where nature, history and culture come together in a truly special way.

Superb week exploring the giant cirques of Gavarnie, Estaube and Tromouse as well as the valleys of Gaube and Marcadau on our French Pyrenees holiday. The hiking and views were stunning all week. It’s the first trip we’ve run on the French side of the range and we’ll certainly be running more trips there next summer.
