Over two hands-on days, attendees explored the foundations of the SP Grid Platform and put Grid Studio into practice by building real-world control and monitoring workflows.

SP wizardry helps accomplish magic at Vienna State Opera 🇦🇹

Thanks to the power of SP, the Volksoper Wien was able to put a fresh and immersive spin on the classic - The Magic Flute.

Innovative technology like video projection creates an array of fantastical settings but requires precise projection mapping and real-time tracking.

Six individually moving projection screens, all differing in shape and size, were deployed, fitting together like puzzle pieces and moving together in perfect synchronisation.

SP proved to be the essential tool ensuring the video content aligns with the moving surfaces without slipping or hitting the back of the stage.

Which areas do your cameras actually cover? 🎥

Grid Studio 2.1.22 adds camera coverage & overlap analysis simulation, right in the 3D viewport 🙌

It builds a voxel-based coverage map showing what’s seen by one camera, by many, or by none. Set your min/max coverage requirements and the weak spots and occlusions show up directly in the 3D viewport.

This helps plan and validate camera-based tracking setups by simulating camera frustum behaviour. Useful for optical tracking systems, infrared cameras, and blob tracking camera coverage.

Discover systems on the network 🔌

Grid Studio 2.1.22 introduces Network Discovery!

Found in the ‘create’ menu, it scans the local network for supported Stage Precision products - Grid Studio, Grid Viewer and Grid Gateway instances- and lists what it finds. Add a device directly and Grid Studio creates the matching object in the Project Tree, already configured correctly.

This is the first step toward a broader discovery workflow. Future versions will expand it to more device types and third-party products where supported discovery protocols are available.
