Concerned for the future of the horses, a group of people and companies, including Factor3 bought all of them

We are now the proud owners of Unico, Spirit and Juanito (we have re-baptized 2 of them!).

They are now at rescue centre just outside Malaga where they will live their lives in freedom.

At 5 years old, they are still very young. Horses often live to 25 or more. And, despite some physical and psychological scars, they are getting better each day.

🐴 When their working days in the city ended, a terrible question appeared:
Would they be sent to the slaughterhouse… or harnessed again somewhere else?

These horses — once part of the carriage business in Málaga, now banned — were suddenly left in limbo.

Babica, Goloso, Tana, Único… each of them facing an uncertain fate no horse should ever have to fear.

In October 2025, Malaga City Council issued an immediate ban on horse-drawn tourist carriages due to animal welfare concerns. The working horses were toiling in extreme heat and living in sub-standard stabling with no paddocks and lacked sufficient veterinary care.

Happy ending, then? Well, not quite. Although the removal of the carriages was great news, it left 55 horses with an unsure future.
