Hi everyone!

My name is Ivanna, I am Argentinian-Canadian. I went to University in Toronto and came to Spain in 2020 for a Masters in Art Therapy. After finishing my studies last year, I decided I wanted to stay here. I work as a tour guide and photographer and I still pay taxes in Canada (complicated situation) until my residency comes through and I can become Autonoma.

I broke my knee at the end of December, I was bed-ridden for a week until I could go to get an MRI (my car got towed on those days too!). In mid-January the doctor gave me the option to get an infiltration instead of surgery and I have been going to physio daily.

The issue is that I am here on my own, unable to work and without social security. My medical bills and basic living expenses are piling up and it is making it very challenging for me to focus on recovery with the financial worry.

I have decided to be brave and ask for help from my different communities. I created a GoFundMe campaign and was able to turn my shame into gratitude, very healing too! This is a temporary situation and the support I receive now, will help me tremendously.

🙌 Este fin de semana se llevó a cabo la Fira Modernista en Terrassa, Catalunya, celebrando lo que antiguamente era la Feria de la Primavera. Decidí salir con la cámara sin saber con qué me encontraría. Lo cierto es que disfruté muchísimo de volver a la fotografía por placer y no por curro, descansar un poco la mente activa -de resolver problema tras problema- y aterrizar finalmente en mi nueva ciudad.

😻 Llevo tan sólo una semana viviendo en Terrassa y pareciera que hubiese estado aquí toda la vida… Me la pasé increíble retratando personajes, degustando comida de la región, hablando con desconocidos en trajes típicos de la época, aprendiendo de las tradiciones Catalanes y en especial, dándole una manito a Ingrid con su taller de Vitreaux✨

📰 Un poco de historia…
Hace ocho siglos, el 1228, el rey Jaime I de Aragón concedió un privilegio a la villa de Tarrasa para poder celebrar esta feria cada año para la fiesta de la Santa Creu.

En el año 2003 el Ayuntamiento decidió recuperar la tradición y al mismo tiempo darle un nuevo sentido: la celebración festiva del carácter y del patrimonio modernista e industrial de la ciudad.

Two days ago, my housemate-dad-friend and I went grocery shopping. Amidst the pandemic, documenting the experience and the East side was a must. I hope these images reminds us all to be even more grateful for having a roof over our heads, food and comfort... the fact that there are human beings living like this really breaks my heart; I truly hope this virus creates a much needed change in the way we live and care for others!
