Autumn changes everything in Montseny. The beech forest shifts into warm tones of yellow, red, and brown, and the trail fills with a soft layer of fallen leaves that rustle under every step. 🍂 Small streams run gently through the woods, and the trees seem to glow in the afternoon light. It’s one of the simplest and most beautiful experiences you can have so close to Barcelona. As a licensed tour guide and hiking guide, I love bringing people here when the forest is at its most colourful — the atmosphere is calm, crisp, and perfect for a slow walk or a longer hike. There’s something truly special about hiking in Montseny during the fall. Just an hour from Barcelona, this natural wonder transforms as the beech forests shift from green to fiery shades of orange and brown. 🍂 It’s one of my favorite places to be when the weather cools down — and the views are incredible! In Gràcia, the countdown is on. Neighbours are putting the final touches on months of work — painting, hanging, building — to transform their streets for one of Barcelona’s most loved traditions: the Festes de Gràcia. Earlier this week, I stumbled upon these eye-popping, gawdy shutters while walking through Poble Sec, on my way to the Intercontinental Hotel in Barcelona. Twenty minutes later, I was leading a walking tour with 15 travelers — from Plaça Espanya all the way to the Sagrada Familia. Quite the challenge under the summer sun! But just before the tour, I spotted this vibrant piece of street art — a mountain scene that lifted my spirits and stayed with me the whole afternoon. Fitting, really: we were heading to the Sagrada Familia, that towering, craggy monument rising like a sacred mountain from the city. His mastery of color and light, conveys the feeling of being in a reverie when you look at his representation of Cala Sant Vicenç, in Mallorca.

Although originally from Barcelona, it is on this island where he produced many of his works that I admire the most.

His brush strokes and palette define this sun-lit cove and capture the Mediterranean in its essence.

Originally a member of the Colla del Safrà in Barcelona, he is one of the few painters of his time who was not really influenced by Impressionism.

Not a theorist nor a person prone to assimilating the theories of others, he took the gentle art of landscape painting into uncharted territory.
