Always when I am in Slovakia, in Martin, the town where I am from, I love to go to the Museum of Slovak village of Martin, Slovakia 🏠🌳 It's area is placed in beautiful nature where are restored ancient houses from many regions of Slovakia. They organize many activities during the whole year and present us the life of our ancestors and their costumes. This is one called building a "máj" - may, which used to be build, usually between the 1.St of the May and July by the boy who wanted to marry the girl, in front of her house, with the help of his friends. It was a representation of love, marriage proposal, honor, gratitude and abundance. It was also built in front of the churches and town halls.
Slovakia certainly has many surprising and hidden beauties and costumes to be enjoyed! If you are Slovak, Czech, Catalan or Spanish and have some idea how we could share our cultures by organizing some events or fairs - once quarantine is over :), or virtually, please just let us know. Today we present you my mom - Mária Nováková :) She is an amazing illustrator for kids, graphic designer, poet, and teacher - all in one! :) She worked as a teacher for little ones from 2 to 6 years more than 35 years, so she knows very well not only the children´s souls, but also the methodology and has a special ability to make children learn through play. She does books, magazines, teaching aids for schools, and all of these many times approved by the Ministry of Education. Yesterday was a special festive day in Catalonia! It´s called Sant Jordi. It is based on a legend when the prince kill the dragon and save the princess. Is it all symbolic, do you know to decode it? :) Since then this day men give a rose to women, and women a book to men. It use to be such a beautiful day when streets of Barcelona and all cities and villages in Catalonia are filled with flowers, books, hugs and laughter.. Cafes and restaurants are full of life too! Could we bring this beautiful feast day to Slovakia? Who signs up? :) Catalans postponed the celebration of Sant Jordi to July 23rd, so we can celebrate it together!!! 💃 Let's do this!!! :) 🐉🌹👸
