Intel’s Core Ultra Series 3 Rewrites the Rules on AAA Gaming on an iGPU With the Arc B390 built right in, Intel's Core Ultra Series 3 makes a discrete GPU optional for the first time.

Intel’s Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake), announced at CES 2026 (2 Month ago), marks a major shift in laptop performance—especially for gaming without a dedicated GPU. Built on Intel’s new 18A process, it features a hybrid architecture (P-cores, E-cores, and LPE cores) and a powerful NPU for AI tasks.

The standout upgrade is the integrated Intel Arc B390 GPU (Xe3 architecture), which delivers up to 77% better performance than previous iGPUs and can even compete with entry-level discrete GPUs like the RTX 4050. Real-world tests show smooth AAA gaming at 1080p, and with XeSS 3 (AI upscaling + frame generation), performance can reach around 100 FPS in some games.

This makes thin, lightweight laptops capable of serious gaming for the first time, potentially reducing the need for dedicated GPUs. While not replacing high-end gaming rigs, it changes the conversation around what integrated graphics can do.
