Dear 9th Semester Students,

please find the programme for the Advanced Studio Practice Workshop Courses attached. There will be 2 rounds during October. The first round begins next Monday. This is your very last chance to get a workshop license at GUC. Remember, you need a license to be able to use a workshop. Read the details carefully.

Each course is taught over five consecutive days, 4 slots per day. You will be given the exact times by the workshop supervisors.

To sign up for a course send an email to Fatma Gharbia [email protected] stating the following:


1. your full name
2. your student ID
3. your mobile phone no.
4. the workshop course you wish to attend.
5. do you have a license for this workshop yes/no?
6. What do you intend to do? Not more than 20 words.
7. Which slots can you not attend (class with the supervisor of your track or theory lecture)

Please note there will not be a Letterpress Advanced course this semester, this has been replaced by the Pre-Press course. The Pre-Press course can’t be booked. It is reserved as a compulsory part of the Editorial Design and Hybrid Graphics Tracks. If you are on these tracks your Supervisors will be telling you which round to attend.

In round 2. Ceramics, Moulding and Woodwork/Modelmaking are reserved as part of a Furniture Design Track and exchange project with Osnabrück Technical University. Your supervisors will be giving you the details.

If you are not on the furniture design track and want to do a course in one of the previously mentioned workshops sign up for a course in round 1!

20th 21st 22nd 27th & 28th October

Workshop License Courses - LAST CHANCE Semesters 5,7 and 9

This Semester the Workshop License Courses will take place on Saturdays and Sundays.
Priority is for 3rd semester students, however we will have an estimated extra capacity of approximately 15%.
Therefore, if you do not yet have a Workshop License for a workshop that you intend to use you need to get on the waiting list for that workshop. You do that by contacting the Workshop Supervisor directly and give them all your contact details. They will let you know shortly before the course begins if they have a space available for you.

You can take a course on either Saturdays or Sundays. The course lasts 3 full days over 3 consecutive weeks.
The Design Workshops offer License Courses in the following 6 disciplines.

Graphic Media

1) Letterpress/Printing: Senior Supervisor – Regina Rammelt
2) Illustration/Printing: Supervisor – Stefanie Schilling
3) Bookbinding/Print Finishing: Supervisor – Gina Nagy


Form and Volume

4) Moulding/Casting: Supervisor – Rabee Ezzat
5) Ceramics/Modelling: Supervisor – Mohamed Abouzeid
6) Woodwork/Model Making: Supervisor – Eng. Khaled Shaban

You may NOT repeat a license you already took.

Course Dates

Round 1: 15.09.18 – 30.09.18
Round 2: 03.11.18 – 18.11.18
Round 3: 24.11.18 – 09.12.18

RULES

• Remember, if you don’t have a Workshop License you can't at any later stage during your studies at GUC, use that workshop. No exceptions will be made.
• If you don’t turn up for a course for which you signed up or if you arrive late you will be blacklisted. This means you will not be able to sign up for the following round of license courses.
• To obtain a Workshop License you must attend all 12 slots that make up the course. Each workshop will arrange compensation classes at the end of the semester for those students who had a genuine reason (sick note) for not being able to attend. Your grandmother’s poorly cat is not an adequate reason for failed attendance!

Making Changes

You can edit your registration (unregister and reregister) until one week before the course begins. The exception is round 1 which begins coming Saturday 15th or Sunday 16th. For this first round the lists will remain open until Friday 14th September,

Moulding workshop week for staff members..

We offer for our staff in the faculty several workshops in the summer break, so they enjoy our faculty more and more and more and more and more :D .....

We offer for the school of the handicaps here in the campus a workshop in the summer for the dissable children.
