The Egyptian Museum in Cairo is home to the Treasures of Tanis, an astonishing collection of rare and unique gold artifacts from Ancient Egyptian civilization. A highlight is a 16.6 cm tall gold plaque belonging to King Psusennes I (Twenty-first Dynasty, circa 1040-992 BCE). It features a beautiful inscription of the Four Sons of Horus and Wedjat. It was discovered in Tanis, Sharqiya Governorate

The
National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC)
is a prominent museum in Cairo that offers a comprehensive overview of Egypt's entire history, from prehistoric times to the modern era. Its central attraction is the Royal Mummies Hall, a dimly lit, state-of-the-art exhibition where the mummies of 22 ancient pharaohs and queens, including Ramses II and Hatshepsut, are displayed in climate-controlled conditions.

The museum's main gallery is organized chronologically and thematically, featuring approximately 50,000 artifacts that highlight the achievements of the Egyptian people in various aspects of life, including the Nile, writing, state and society, culture, and beliefs.

Tutankhamun, or "King Tut," was a young and relatively minor ancient Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty, who ruled from approximately 1333 to 1323 BCE. He is famous today solely because of the 1922 discovery of his nearly intact, treasure-filled tomb by archaeologist Howard Carter, which provided unprecedented insight into ancient Egyptian royal life and burial practices.

"The Boy King": He became pharaoh at around nine years old and died at the age of 18 or 19.
Reign: His most notable act during his short reign was reversing his father Akhenaten's controversial religious revolution, restoring the traditional worship of the god Amun and moving the capital back to Thebes.

Death: He suffered from various health issues, possibly due to royal inbreeding, and likely died from a combination of a broken leg infection and malaria.

Tomb's Significance: Unlike most other pharaohs' tombs, his burial site in the Valley of the Kings remained largely hidden and unplundered for over 3,000 years. The thousands of artifacts found within, including his iconic solid gold mask, became a global sensation and sparked a massive interest in Egyptology.
