ABOUT THE MENTOR:
Muhammad Taymour, Palme d’Or winner for the short film I Am Afraid to Forget Your Face at the Cannes Film Festival 2020, Muhammad Taymour is an Egyptian film producer, director, programmer, and educator. Over the past six years, he has produced eight successful short films and is currently developing several feature film projects.

After serving for two years from 2023–2024 as the Head of CineGouna Film Market in El Gouna Film Festival, In 2025, Taymour started to work as the Short Films Programmer in the same festival in Egypt.

In 2022, he founded ‘CHAOS FILMS, an Egyptian production company based in Egypt with a focus on producing high-quality films, specifically short films. The company is currently producing it’s 1st feature fiction film. & two feature documentary films.

In August of 2021, Taymour founded the ‘Egyptian Film Producers Club’ (EFPC), which aimed to gather all the aspiring film producers and create a space for them to share their experiences through the club’s activities. The club has also created educational programs for upcoming generations of film producers in Egypt.

Since it was founded in Cairo/Egypt, 2022, we have worked on a variety of multinational short films. Our awards winning international productions such as
“THE SEA REMEMBERS MY NAME”, “MANGO”, “BANDIDO”, and “SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN” are stories we are very proud to tell!

CHAOS FILMS is currently working on feature films as well, bringing stronger productions to the line-up.

The Italian Premiere of THE SEA REMEMBERS MY NAME is going to be in the 45th edition of FESTIVAL DI CINEMA AFRICANO in VERONA, ITALY

There are losses that don't belong only to grief, but to the very shape of identity—to what remains when a bond is broken.

In *The Sea Remembers My Name*, Egyptian director Hussein Hossam tells the story of a family overwhelmed by sudden loss after a fishing trip between two teenage brothers. A tragic accident causes one of them to drown. From that moment, grief enters the household like a presence too difficult to name, especially for the father, who is unable to accept the loss. The surviving brother finds himself suspended in a deep fracture, trying to fill the void left by his missing twin and to find a place again in his father's gaze.

With an independent and personal cinema, attentive to the human dimension of contemporary Egypt, Hussein Hossam builds a story about grief, family love, and the fragile search for self after a loss that changes every balance.
