Integral Consult has actively participated in the first session of the newly formed Technical Committee for Hazardous Materials and Waste (“Committee 53”), held on 29 April 2026 at Cairo House under the Ministry of Local Development and Environment وزارة التنمية المحلية والبيئة, as part of the implementation of Egypt’s Waste Management Law No. 202 of 2020.
During the session, Integral Consult presented the Solid Waste Management Guidelines developed for the pulp and paper industrial sector under the GIZ NSWMP program, in support of the Waste Management Regulatory Authority (WMRA) and the Egyptian Ministry of Environment (MoE). The guideline is one of two sector-specific guidelines developed by Integral Consult, with the second guideline for the tanning and leather sector to be presented in a future committee session. We were happy to respond to all the questions and to engage in the fruitful discussions with the committee members and stakeholders on key waste management practices and implementation considerations for the sector.
The meeting brought together representatives from relevant ministries and authorities to discuss strengthening hazardous waste management systems, updating regulatory frameworks, and enhancing environmental compliance in line with Egypt’s vision for a sustainable green economy.
At Integral Consult, we remain committed to supporting the development of practical environmental frameworks and sectoral guidelines that advance sustainable waste management practices in Egypt.

Integral Consult is proud to have successfully supported the Egyptian Ministry of Environment during the UNFCCC in-country review of Egypt’s first Biennial Transparency Report (BTR1) between 26–30 April 2026 in Cairo.
Given the international experience of its lead reviewers, Integral Consult supported the Ministry and the national experts in responding to the questions of the international technical expert review team (TERT) before and during the review week. The support also included the deep technical discussions with the TERT about the identified capacity building needs and areas of improvements. The review covered key components including greenhouse gas inventories, progress toward NDC implementation, policies and measures, and adaptation.
Egypt’s successful completion of its first review under the UNFCCC (UN Climate Change) review marks a significant milestone under the Enhanced Transparency Framework of the Paris Agreement, with international reviewers commending the high level of transparency, technical rigor, and professionalism demonstrated by the Egyptian national team.
At Integral Consult, we remain committed to supporting national climate governance processes and strengthening transparency, technical capacity, and international climate engagement across the region.

As part of the Egyptian-German Joint Committee on Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Environmental Protection (JCEE) —implemented by GIZ Egypt, and in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, we are proud to have successfully delivered a two-day capacity-building workshop on GHG Inventory – Application of the IPCC Guidelines, on April 8–9, 2026 at Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah.
The workshop brought together key national stakeholders—including climate change units from various ministries and representatives of the Climate Change Central Department (CCCD)—to strengthen Egypt’s climate reporting framework. The workshop aimed to prepare the ministries for the upcoming UNFCCC BTR2 submission planned to be by December 2026.
The workshop enhanced technical capacities through hands-on learning, covering UNFCCC requirements and the application of the 2006 IPCC Guidelines and 2019 Refinement. Sessions addressed GHG inventory structure under the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF), Key Category Analysis (KCA), QA/QC, uncertainty assessment, data management, and the use of IPCC Inventory Software.
A key highlight was the sectoral case studies across Energy, IPPU, and AFOLU, where participants applied real-world emissions calculations, from data input to time-series analysis and reporting.
The workshop also enabled valuable dialogue on challenges in data availability, coordination, and reporting—supporting progress toward a more integrated national MRV system.
At Integral Consult, we remain committed to advancing transparent and robust climate reporting by combining technical expertise with practical implementation tools.

Integral Consult successfully delivered the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) public consultation for the Al Nahda Cement Factory Expansion Project, located in the industrial zone, southeast of Qena City. The public consultation event was attended by Major General Dr. Mustafa El-Biblawi, Governor of Qena, in addition to the Chairman of the General Authority for the Golden Triangle, Vice President of Qena University for Environmental Affairs, in addition to representatives of Ministry of Environment, group of undersecretaries of ministries, representatives of Al-Azhar and the Church, and multiple local community representatives.
The project involves increasing the annual cement production capacity from 1,500,000 tons to 2,105,263 tons, alongside a corresponding increase in annual coal consumption from 223,075 tons to 311,259 tons. This expansion represents a significant step in enhancing industrial capacity while maintaining environmental and social responsibility.
Our ESIA study focused on ensuring that the increase in production and coal usage is achieved without causing adverse environmental or social impacts. The assessment included a comprehensive analysis of project alternatives, identification of potential impacts, and development of effective mitigation measures to ensure compliance with national regulations and international best practices.
Through this work, Integral Consult continues to support sustainable industrial growth by balancing operational expansion with environmental protection and community well-being.

Integral Consult successfully conducted the DrasChem Sodium Cyanide ESIA Public Consultation at Hilton Alexandria, as part of the disclosure and stakeholder engagement process for the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) of the project to establish and operate a sodium cyanide and derivatives production facility (Phase I).
The session brought together around 120 attendees with representatives from the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), Austrian Embassy, Alexandria Governorate, Industrial Development Authority (IDA), General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), other relevant governmental authorities, neighboring industrial factories, the scientific community, NGOs, and members of the local community. The project represents the first facility of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East & North Africa for the production of sodium cyanide. It is owned by DrasChem for Specialty Chemicals, established through a partnership between Draslovka (Czech Republic)—a global leader in cyanide production and applications—and Petrochemicals Holding (PCH) of Austria, which has extensive experience in developing and operating specialized chemical facilities.
The project is expected to support Egypt’s advanced chemical industry, enhance export potential, transfer international technologies to the local market, and create direct and indirect employment opportunities.

At Integral Consult, sustainability impact starts with governance, policy, and global alignment — and ends with real-world change.
Over the past year, we have supported governments, institutions, and businesses across Egypt, Middle East, Africa, and beyond in strengthening climate governance, advancing transparency, and shaping high-integrity climate action.
