"It takes a village to raise a learner, a scholar, a citizen." As an academic support unit, it is managed by the Office of Undergraduate Studies, the John D.

Community-Based Learning Program was established in 2006 as part of the American University in Cairo campus infrastructure to forward civic engagement and citizen scholarship. Gerhart Center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement and the Center for Learning and Teaching.
