Just for simplicity
there are three types of brainstem nuclei that are connected to the cerebellum (ipsilaterl) to coordinate movements. all of them are located anteriorly in the corresponding regions of the brainstem and connected to the cerebellum via the corresponding peduncle . They are red nucleus, pontine nuclei and inf olive
all of them are connected to the contralateral cortex .

When you see multiple SOL in old age , there are two main possibilities . Metastasis & primary CNS lymphoma (PCNSL) . but usually.,
- Metastasis tend to appear in the gray white junction due to the presence of microvasculature at this region which slows the flow velocity and has small lumen helping the large tumor cells to lodge .
- PCNSL : tend to appear in the deep structures around the ventricles due to the plenty of lymphocytes
gliomatosis is another possibility but it is rare

When you first enter the retrosigmoid corridor, the exact location of the internal auditory canal (IAC) may not be obvious.
In such cases, the suprameatal tubercle serves as a key bony landmark to locate the canal.
however, if the tubercle is prominent or enlarged, it can become an obstacle, obscuring the view of the IAC and requiring careful drilling.

High grade meningiomas and gliomas usually show restricted diffusion while the low grades of both of them usually don't

The post central gyrus ( sensory area ) is directly connected to the superior parietal lobule by a gyral bridge . This makes the superior parietal lobule to be continously and immediately informed by the sensory data to perform its function of spatial orientation of the whole body . through this bridge we can localise the superior parietal lobule .

The pterion is an important region regarding the surgical anatomy of the skull . The pterional craniotomy is a standard technique as it has many advantages but it also has some disadvantages . depending on the knowledge of "pros and cons " of every appraoch we can chose the best one for everey case .also the asterion is an important point that is used during posterior fossa craniotomy such as in retrosigmoid approach.know more about the pterion and asterion in this video on YouTube .

the skull has variable landmarks like sutures and points that we can use for localization and during surgery . some of them are less reliable than the others . this knowledge is crucial even if neuronavigation is available .
