Last week, TalTech Law School lecturer Javad Keypour visited the Faculty of Law of the University of Rijeka (Croatia) under the Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility programme.
During the visit, Javad delivered an interactive session on EU Energy Law and Policy for international students, focusing on the relationship between energy security, competition, sustainability, and climate regulation in the European Union.
The workshop also introduced students to the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), encouraging them to examine how climate policies may interact with international trade rules and WTO law through practical case discussions.
Teaching mobility is an important part of international academic cooperation, creating opportunities for exchanging knowledge, perspectives, and teaching practices across European universities.
Many thanks to our colleagues at the University of Rijeka for their warm welcome and excellent cooperation.

Saban Ibrahim Göksal: Türgi tugevdab positsiooni Euroopa kaitsetööstuses - Trialoog 04/06/2026

We are happy to share that our junior researcher Şaban Ibrahim Göksal has published his latest web article on Trialoog at TalTech!
In this post, Saban explores how Turkish defence companies are successfully building a pragmatic “local bridge” strategy across Europe — forming joint ventures and making direct investments to strengthen their position in the European defence industry, despite exclusion from the EU’s €150 billion SAFE programme.
The importance of this publication lies in its strong business perspective. Since Saban is currently doing his PhD study in Business Administration, he can analyse the “local bridge” cases through the lens of theories thought in his PhD study .

Kolme instituudi koostöös toimus 28.-29. mail meie teaduskonnas XXI Eesti Filosoofia Aastakonverents. Konverentsi temaatika keskendus seekord tehisaruga seotud filosoofilistele probleemidele. Kahe päeva jooksul esitati üle viiekümne ettekande. Osalejad pärinesid enam kui kümnest riigist Euroopast Indiani. Konverentsi lõpus tõdeti, et ülikoolidel seisab ees kohanemine täiesti uue akadeemilise keskkonnaga, kus tehisaruga seonduvat ei saa ignoreerida ei õpetamise ega uurimistöö puhul.

EFAK XXI, the XXI Annual Estonian Philosophy Conference took place at the School of Business and Administration on May 28-29. The conference was a cooperative effort of three departments, Tallinn Law School, Ragnar Nurkse School of Governance and Innovation and the Department of Business Administration, because that's how the TalTech philosophers are positioned currently, lacking their own academic unit. More than fifty talks were given by participants coming from all over Europe and from India. Most of the topics focused on the philosophical problems concerning AI from different angles. Challenges the universities are facing because of AI are unprecedented.

🎉🎉Happy to share that our junior researcher Şaban Ibrahim Göksal successfully presented the paper “Multi-stakeholder AI Governance: Conceptualizing Stakeholders-in-the-loop Mechanism” at the Theorizing Data and AI Conference 2026 held at the London School of Economics!
The paper stands out for its truly interdisciplinary nature — bridging governance, ethics, and technology — and was presented at a fittingly interdisciplinary international conference. We are especially proud of the strong collaboration behind this work between Tallinn University of Technology’s School of Business and Governance and the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Tartu, in co-authorship with Nikiforova.
This cross-university effort demonstrates the power of Estonian academic cooperation in advancing trustworthy and inclusive AI governance.
Congratulations Saban and Anastasija on this cooperation!

Our Associate Professor Holger Mölder is participating in the 2nd Annual TALONS Conference in Joensuu, Finland. This year’s conference opened with a tribute to our former director, the late Professor Tanel Kerikmäe, whose vision and dedication made an important contribution to the establishment and development of this academic forum.
