Learning Library
New way of learning. Better way of learning!
24/06/2026
Most of us have been taught to adapt learning when someone needs it. UDL flips that question: what if we designed it better from the start? π
Universal Design for Learning isnβt about adding more work. Itβs about making smarter choices when building activities and materials so that more people can engage without needing individual accommodations. π
Our new article on the Learning Library website walks through the three core principles of UDL and how they apply to everyday digital youth work.

Do you use captions when watching a video in a noisy place? Or zoom in on text when the font is too small? π
Thatβs assistive technology. And itβs more common than most people think.
Our latest article on the Learning Library website breaks down the key assistive tools every youth worker should be aware of, from screen readers to keyboard navigation, and explains why tools alone arenβt enough if the content itself isnβt designed with access in mind. π‘
Worth a read if you work with young people in digital spaces.

Can the food on your plate help you feel better about the future? π±
More and more young people are feeling overwhelmed by environmental news. That sense of worry and helplessness is real, and itβs something many of us share. π
Hereβs something worth knowing: the everyday choices we make around food can be a powerful way to reconnect with a sense of purpose. π½οΈ Choosing seasonal ingredients, reducing what goes to waste, planning meals with more intention... these arenβt just good for the planet. They can shift how we feel about our role in it.
Small, conscious steps have a way of turning concern into action. β¨ And action, even in the kitchen, builds a feeling of contribution and hope.
Sustainable eating isnβt about being perfect. Itβs about making choices that feel meaningful, and being part of something bigger. π

π² Learning Through Play: Presenting the YOUR DEMOCRACY Game in Tallinn πͺπͺ
At the end of May, Learning Library participated in the international seminar βBeyond Polarisations: Youth Renewing Democracyβ in Tallinn, Estonia, organised by the Estonian National Agency and the New Power in Youth Strategic Partnership.
During the event, we introduced the educational board game developed within the YOUR DEMOCRACY project. The game was designed as an interactive learning tool that encourages discussion, teamwork, critical thinking, media literacy, and problem-solving through engaging gameplay.
Participants had the opportunity to test the game, explore its mechanics, and exchange ideas about how educational games can support learning in youth work, schools, and community settings. The sessions provided valuable feedback and highlighted the potential of game-based learning approaches for creating engaging educational experiences.
The seminar also offered an excellent opportunity to connect with educators, youth workers, researchers, and community practitioners from across Europe, share experiences, and discuss innovative methods for supporting active learning and meaningful engagement among young people.
We would like to thank the organisers and all participants for the opportunity to present the project, exchange ideas, and gather valuable insights that will support the further development and dissemination of the game.

ππ‘ Did you know that more than 99% of Europeans live under light-polluted skies? The recent researches show that artificial lighting has become so widespread that around 60% of Europeans can no longer see the Milky Way from their homes.
Light pollution is no longer only an astronomy issue - today it is recognised as an environmental, educational, urban planning, and public health challenge. Studies across Europe highlight its impact on biodiversity, ecosystems, energy consumption, and even human wellbeing.
This is exactly why the VET EcoLume project is working on developing innovative vocational education materials focused on sustainable urban lighting and green competences. Through the project, partners have already developed a specialised curriculum for future Light Pollution Mitigation Specialists, together with practical instruction manuals and interactive online learning materials.
At Learning Library we are proud to support the digital learning dimension of the project by helping transform complex environmental topics into accessible, modern, and interactive educational resources. ππ
The green transition is not only about renewable energy and recycling, but it is also about rethinking how we illuminate our cities, communities, and public spaces in a smarter and more sustainable way. β¨
