Suvesessioonid on lõpuks kohal! ☀️😍

Our next Estonian session is happening already this Sunday and will be hosted by Eva Oižinskaja!

Eva has been writing for Postimees for many years while also teaching Estonian. Recently, she decided to focus more on teaching and other creative projects, and we’re very happy that one of those projects is her growing involvement in our club 💘

Having spent years working as a translator at Postimees, Eva has seen firsthand how stories are chosen, written and presented to readers. That’s exactly what inspired this session. Together we’ll explore the media landscape around us:

✨ where we get our information from
✨ which sources deserve our trust
✨ how social media and algorithms can shape the way we see the world
✨ whether it’s becoming harder to separate facts from noise
✨ and whether we’re becoming better informed… or just more overwhelmed

And of course, we’ve prepared some fun interactive activities along the way! A super relevant topic, lots of useful vocabulary, and plenty of opportunities to share opinions and practise your speaking skills. We can’t wait to see you there! 🇪🇪

P.S. A little surprise for those who have been with us since the early days - Doro will be joining us as well and supporting your conversations 😍

Spent a day with .maasing working on our upcoming session! Guys, it came together so fun, definitely not one to be missed. 😍

The topic for this lesson came up very naturally - Carolina has just spent two months in Bali, where social interactions can feel very different compared to Estonia, so it gave us a lot to talk about.

People nowadays value privacy, independence and personal space more than ever. Whether that has made life simpler and healthier, or colder and lonelier, is a really interesting question.

We’ll discuss and practise:

✨ small talk skills - and why it feels natural to some people but painful to others
✨ whether privacy and distance are lonely.. or healthy
✨ if online life has made real-life connection harder
✨ awkward everyday moments we know a little too well

A great chance to improve your Estonian while practising natural conversation skills.

rügama, rassima - to work extremely hard, often overworking yourself // пахать 🫠

One of the words we’ve covered at our last Estonian session. Thank you so much for coming, so
many new faces and cool people! 💘 Next session is already this Sunday - feel free to join us! 👀

This Sunday at our Estonian session, we’ll be talking about work, purpose, and the pressure to “figure it all out” 👀

We’ll discuss:
✨ your personal journeys and aspirations
✨ if work should define who we are or just pay the bills
✨ what feels normal at work and what really shouldn’t

The lesson turned out so well - can’t wait to see where the conversations go. It’s useful for all levels (B1-C1): B1-B2 will pick up new vocabulary and get good speaking practice, while higher levels get a chance to express more nuanced thoughts in Estonian.

We’re also so excited to welcome our new host, Karoliina! 😍 She’s a professional language teacher, which means she’ll be there to help you find the right words and keep the energy high. Having her on board means even more support for everyone, no matter your level.

Come talk, listen, and maybe rethink a few things along the way 🖤

Short answer - not directly. 👇

Sunday Speaking Club is not really about exam preparation. We’re not doing writing tasks, reading exercises, or practicing test formats. We also use a lot of everyday language like slang and expressions that native speakers use in real life. Some of it can absolutely be useful, but not everything is always the best fit for an academic exam. 😅

That being said, from around B1+ level, it’s not only about knowing grammar or vocabulary - it’s about general knowledge and how comfortable you feel using the language. And that’s exactly what we wanna help you with: to react faster, express your thoughts more freely, and not freeze in the middle of a sentence.

If your goal is to pass an exam, it’s still a good idea to prepare for it with a tutor or in a language course. But what we’re really trying to do here is something slightly different.

We want you to start enjoying the language, feel more connected to it, and a bit closer to the culture around it. But more than anything - to get you speaking and give you space to actually use everything you’ve learned.

Also, in every session we share a small set of vocabulary - useful across different levels, and something you can take with you into real life (and into an exam too, when it fits the context 😉)

🇪🇪😍 We’re beyond excited to have Marian Võsumets hosting our next Estonian session this Sunday at 16:00! 🇪🇪
vosumets - is a film producer, public speaker and a former journalist with a truly diverse background. She’s a native Estonian that has long been connected to different cultural environments, including Russian-speaking ones, and has spent much of her life moving between languages and communities.

Which makes her perspective on language, identity and life between cultures especially interesting for this discussion! 🔥

Definitely not to be missed,
