An interview in the The Maritime Executive about SRC Methanol Superstorage touches on some of the practical considerations around methanol adoption in shipping: storage volume, vessel range, bunkering frequency, retrofit constraints and applicability across different vessel types.

The discussion with our CEO Hannes Lilp also looks at how methanol projects are being approached in the context of operational requirements, evolving regulation and long-term fleet planning.

We design and deliver E-Houses for marine and offshore projects.
Prefabricated, fully integrated units delivered ready for installation.

• Switchgear, UPS and control systems assembled,
wired and FAT-tested before delivery
• Shorter and more predictable commissioning phase
• Built to marine standards, ready for harsh environments
• Suitable for both newbuilds and retrofit projects

Used where installation time is limited, integration is complex, or offshore work needs to be minimised.

If this is part of your current project scope, we can support where it makes a difference.

A week with a strong maritime focus on Asia.

From Singapore through to Indonesia, our CEO Hannes Lilp, was part of the Estonian Maritime Industry Business Trade Mission.

The programme brought together both industry and government, including Kuldar Leis, Minister of Infrastructure of Estonia, Veikko Kala, Ambassador-designate to Singapore, Indonesia and ASEAN; and Drs. Suntana, Vice Minister of Transportation of Indonesia.

What stood out was the move from general discussion to practical alignment. Estonian maritime solutions are well known, but connecting them directly to Indonesian market needs made the conversations more concrete.

Thank you to everyone involved for making this happen and for the level of hospitality throughout the week. A strong basis to continue the conversations.

“Type Approval from RINA provides shipowners with clear validation as they evaluate methanol as a long-term clean fuel supporting decarbonisation targets.”
- Alex Vainokivi, Innovation Manager, SRC Group

Good to see independent industry coverage picking this up. Covered by SplashTech.

RINA grants Type Approval to SRC’s Methanol Superstorage

A major step for maritime decarbonisation, confirming that the solution is ready for real-world deployment.

At Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) Week, the certificate was handed over by Pino Spadafora, Marine Market Development Vice President at RINA, to Hannes Lilp, CEO of SRC, in the presence of Kuldar Leis, Minister of Infrastructure of the Republic of Estonia, and Alex Vainokivi, Innovation Manager at SRC.

Methanol Superstorage enables ships to carry close to double the fuel volume compared to conventional solutions, removing a key barrier to adopting methanol and ethanol as marine fuels.

Thanks to Kuldar Leis for opening the ceremony, and to Pino Spadafora for handing over the Type Approval.

Twelve international journalists. Different interests, different lenses. A good opportunity to show what is actually happening today.

Last Wednesday at Maritime Offshore NL, Arthur de Boer, Joost Kop Jansen and Robbert Cortie from SRC walked them through how we approach Life Cycle Support Services from design into ex*****on, followed by a more layered look at SPS Technology and our own Methanol Superstorage solution.

Thanks Edee Carey from BLUE-C bringing this group together.

Also, keep an eye on our social channels this week for major news on Methanol Superstorage.

Wednesday afternoon at our stand in Miami at Seatrade Cruise Global.
So good to see so many old friends and new connections.

Part of the Estonian networking event, bringing together Estonian maritime technology innovators and industry professionals. From retrofits and onboard systems to fuel storage solutions, all innovations already being installed and running onboard.

A few opening words from Kristjan Truu, Deputy Minister for Maritime Affairs and Water Resources at Estonia’s Ministry of Climate, and SRC CEO Hannes Lilp.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and took the time to engage, and to the Estonian Embassy in Washington for helping to organise this event.

Next, Singapore Maritime Week!
“How are you handling fuel transition in practice?”
“What actually works onboard, not just on paper?”
“Where are the real constraints?”

If these are already part of your conversations, let’s compare notes.
Our team on the ground, CEO Hannes Lilp and Innovation Manager Alex Vainokivi.

You’ll find us at Stand B14, together with the Estonian group.

We focus on the ex*****on side- taking projects from engineering through to installation, whether in port, on voyage, or in remote locations.

Last details being checked in Miami.

If you’re at Seatrade Cruise Global this week, stop by booth #1435.

Vadim, Hannes, Stefano and Argo will be there to talk through real retrofit challenges, from engineering through to ex*****on.
See you there.

The real challenge in the Nordic-Baltic ecosystem is no longer technology.
Last week at the ship.energy Nordic-Baltic Maritime Forum, Hannes Lilp joined Session 3 together with peers from across the region.

A few themes that came through :
• Energy transition pathways are still fragmented across regions and vessel types
• Port-side infrastructure readiness is becoming a limiting factor (shore power, fuels, grid capacity)
• Policy and funding frameworks are not keeping pace with technical capability
• There is growing pressure to standardise solutions instead of engineering each project from scratch

What stands out is this: The capability is already there. So is the willingness to move forward together.

With our HQ in Estonia, staying engaged in the local ecosystem behind the global work is a natural step.

Last week, the Estonian Maritime Cluster held its General Assembly and elected a new board for the term until April 2028.
At SRC, both Hannes Lilp and Argo Sildvee were selected to the board.

A lot of the decisions shaping our industry do not come from individual projects, but through how knowledge is shared, how standards evolve, and how different players align early enough.

Being part of that discussion allows us to bring in what we see on the ground, what actually works in ex*****on, where the constraints are, and where there is room to do things better.
The Cluster works when someone is consistently connecting the dots between companies, topics, and initiatives. Jaak Viilipus has recently taken on that responsibility as CEO.
