Leucemia agudas👀 Clasificación FAB

A) Large cell, fine chromatin, nucleoli, scant cytoplasm – immature precursor
B) Small cell, clumped chromatin, no nucleoli, scant cytoplasm – mature resting cell
C) Eccentric clockface nucleus, perinuclear halo, basophilic cytoplasm – antibody-producing cell
D) Medium/large cell, kidney-shaped nucleus, cytoplasmic granules – LGL/viral response
E & F) Medium cell, prominent nucleolus, moderate cytoplasm – between lymphocyte and lymphoblast

Types of Blasts - Key Features🔵🟣🔬
1) Cup-like blast:
Size: 10-20 μm, N:C 7:1 to 4:1
Round to oval. Fish mouth/cuplike nuclear invagination. Auer rods absent. Fine, lacy chromatin. Strongly linked to AML with _NPM1_ or _FLT3-ITD_ mutations.

2) Myeloblasts with Auer rods:
Size: 15-20 μm, N:C 7:1 to 4:1
Round to convoluted nucleus. Contains azurophilic rod-like inclusions = Auer rods. Classic for AML, especially M2, M3.

3) Myeloblasts:
Size: 10-20 μm, N:C 7:1 to 5:1
Round to oval, sometimes indented nucleus. Fine lacy chromatin, 1+ nucleoli. Variably basophilic, agranular cytoplasm. Generic myeloid blast.

4)Lymphoblasts:
Size: 10-20 μm, N:C 7:1 to 4:1
Round to oval, but can be clefted, convoluted, or angular. More granular chromatin vs myeloblasts. Nucleoli often indistinct. Scant to moderate deeply basophilic cytoplasm. Hand-mirror forms possible. Seen in ALL.

5)Monoblast:
Size: 15-25 μm, N:C 7:1 to 3:1
Round to indented nucleus. Reticular, lacy chromatin. 1-2 nucleoli. Gray to cloudy blue cytoplasm, few red granules. Seen in AML M5a.

Confirm with flow cytometry & cytogenetics.
