She was one of the first major artists to bring the electric guitar to the front of popular music and among the earliest to use distortion as part of her tone. Her playing was aggressive, expressive, and deeply influential, helping shape the language of electric blues. She proved that the guitar could lead a song, not just accompany it, opening the door for future generations.

Her influence reached directly into the birth of rock and roll, inspiring artists like Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, and Johnny Cash. She died on October 9, 1973, but her legacy remains fundamental to both blues and rock guitar. Today, she is widely recognized as one of the first great electric guitar innovators in history.
