🔬✨ AI + Science at High Altitude
A newly published study analyzes the consensual pupillary reflex under blue light stimulation (465 nm) in young adults living at 3,400 meters above sea level, using low-cost hardware and lightweight AI-based image segmentation.
📊 Key finding:
Fixed binary thresholding proved to be the most stable and computationally efficient method, consistently capturing the contraction–plateau–recovery pattern across participants.
🤝 This work was developed through collaboration between researchers from the Universidad Nacional de San Antonio Abad del Cusco (UNSAAC) and GIHP4C—showing that scientific progress accelerates when institutions and borders are crossed.
🌎 Innovation does not always require complex systems; sometimes, well-applied simple methods deliver robust and scalable results.
💡 Science grows faster when we collaborate beyond borders.
