Social Vision
SOCIAL VISION is about meeting the medical needs of people in Ecuador. We are committed to doing our Sinai Hospital as our Medical Director. We've brought in Dra.
Social Vision has partnered with some of the most acclaimed doctors in Cuenca. We are working with Dr. Giuseppe Miotto, Dr. Diego Torres, and Dra. Nataly Torres of Exilaser for all of our patients with vision needs. Additionally, we are fortunate to have Dr. Ivan Vallejo from Mt. Yadira Tapia of AQUA Comprehensive Center for Health and Aesthetics for those with dermatologic needs. Everyone's favor

Social Vision patients - Arturo and Jose — twin brothers who depend on daily medication to stay healthy.
This month, the public hospital system faced a serious crisis and was unable to meet their needs. That's when Social Vision stepped in. We made sure these boys received their necessary monthly medications — and in doing so, brought their mom a much-needed sense of relief and peace of mind.
Moments like these remind us why this work matters. The need in our community is real, and we are committed to showing up when others cannot.
The public hospital system is going through a very difficult time right now, and we hope they receive the funding and support they need to care for their patients very soon.
In the meantime, Social Vision will continue to be here for families like Arturo and Jose's.
If our work moves you, please consider making a donation. Every contribution helps us say "yes" when families need us most.

Social Vision Patient Spotlight – Carmen
Today, our dear friend Carmen underwent successful pterygium surgery at Exilaser.
The procedure went very well, and we are incredibly grateful to Dr. Christian Rodriguez for his excellent care and generosity.
Carmen is now home resting comfortably and recovering well. We are so thankful to be part of her journey toward better vision and improved quality of life.

Social Vision has had the privilege of supporting new mothers at Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso.
Jennifer is expecting her baby girl any day now. When we asked how we could best support her during this exciting new chapter, she shared that the items she needed most were a stroller and diapers.
We were honored to help provide a few essentials as she prepares to welcome her daughter into the world.
At Social Vision, we believe that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference for families in our community.

Social Vision Patient Spotlight – Sebastian 💙
At Social Vision, we are honored to help our neighbors here in Cuenca who have become part of our extended family.
Recently, Sebastian came to us with a rapidly growing cyst on his thyroid gland. Thankfully, it was not life-threatening, but doctors determined that surgery was needed quickly.
We are thrilled to share that Sebastian successfully underwent surgery on Friday, spent just one night in the hospital, and has already returned to work with a clean bill of health!
Moments like these remind us how powerful community support can be. Because of your generosity, people like Sebastian are able to receive the medical care they urgently need.
Thank you for helping us make a difference in Cuenca — one life at a time.

Today, Social Vision had the privilege of helping Carmen, a dear friend of one of our supporters.
Carmen visited Dr. Christian Rodriguez at Exilaser after struggling with blurred vision caused by pterygium, a growth on the eye that can significantly affect eyesight and daily life. The good news is that surgery can restore her vision, and she is scheduled for her procedure next Tuesday. Afterward, she’ll also be fitted for glasses to help with her age-related vision changes.
We are so grateful to play a small part in helping Carmen see more clearly and improve her quality of life.
Every patient we help is only possible because of the kindness and generosity of people who support Social Vision.

Social Vision Patient – Manuel
Manuel was referred to us by a friend of Social Vision.
We were told that he is on the spectrum, but he is attending college and studying to become a chef. He has an amazing bright and pleasant personality to go with it. He learned English as a child by watching TV! We don’t know about our expat friends, but watching TV in Spanish did not help us much with learning Spanish!
Manuel had a pair of glasses that no longer corrected his vision properly and had become broken. Exilaser set him up with a lovely new pair, and he’s now off on his learning adventure!

Social Vision Vision patient – Lorena
Lorena has been with Social Vision before. Last year, we helped her in her fight to restore her vision. Unfortunately, diabetes has made that journey much more difficult, as it continues to affect both her health and her eyesight.
Recently, Lorena was suffering from severe shoulder pain, so we took her to see our Medical Director, Dr. Ivangustavo Vallejo Morales.
Before giving her a cortisone injection, Dr. Ivan wisely ordered a blood glucose test. Cortisone can be dangerous for diabetic patients if their blood sugar is too high, and in some cases, it can lead to serious complications.
Her glucose levels were too high for the cortisone shot, so instead, he treated her with anti-inflammatory injections and pain medication to help manage her discomfort. He also diagnosed her with diabetic neuropathy, another painful complication caused by diabetes.
This is another reminder of how important careful, personalized medical care can be—especially for patients living with chronic illnesses like diabetes.
We are hopeful that with proper medication and better blood sugar control, Lorena’s pain will improve and her health will stabilize.
