A SHIFT IN FAITH!!!
AUGUST 13th- 15th

Matthew 8: 23- 27 paints the picture of Jesus being followed by his disciples. The scripture did not state that they went with him but they 'followed' him. Dictionary check up would indicate that they were devoted to him, his admirers or personages. When we begin to follow Jesus and be in sincere relationship with him; and we devotely commit to his ways many undesirable things can arise suddenly to test and strengthen our faith.

In this case with the disciples, a tempest which was described as great and terrible arose. Tempest or commonly known as a typhoon, superstorm or whirlwind takes many fashions in our lives. It maybe financial distress, terrible illness, work/home or even marital related issues. They come to shake the very core of our being. Like the disciples we perceive that this is the end result of our situation, 'to perish, die, fail, lose focus, bankruptcy and divorce.' But it is only God shifting our faith!

In the midst of the storm, Jesus questioned the faith of his disciples. Before he arose and dealt with the matter which brought fear upon them... he questioned their faith. We say all the time that we believe in the power of God but in times of the storm, does our action portrays such? When the doctor says we have X illness; do we fully believe that total healing is ours? When our husband/wives have forgotten their vow; do we believe that God can restore out marriage?

The most important thing to note about this portion of scripture is that what occured after the storm. There was a calm. After our testing and trials, there is always a calm; a time for restoration, empowerment and peace.

Like the disciples did in the midst of their storm... they called on God ... call on Him today!
