🗨 "Our Land, Our History, Our Stories!"
📍This Wednesday, June 17th at 6pm EST, there will be a lecture on Colonial Archeology in Dominica at the Dominica UWI campus auditorium off Elmshall Road in Roseau! Acheologists will discuss the excavations from three historical sites: LaSoye, Jacko Flats and Morne Patate - the findings of which reflect the resiliance of the Kalinago and Dominican people during European imperialism and slavery🇩🇲
🗺 Attendees will also get introduced to the teams goals in creating an interactive online and public map that reflects Afro-Dominican and Indigenous Histories! There's a bar code to register for the session but attendance is allowed without registering. Hope to see you there!🤩

🌟 Where Are They Now? | Garvin LeBlanc 🌟
Allo allo, my name is Garvin and I served as an intern at Create Caribbean Research Institution from 2015-2017 while pursuing an Associate’s in Architectural Technology at Dominica State College.
In 2018, just over a year after completing my internship, I moved to Canada to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan (UBCO) campus.
I graduated with Distinction in 2026. At our graduating exhibit, Odds and Ends, in April 2026, I received the Asper Graduating Award for the project work in digital media that I completed during my tenure at the university. I also received the Young Black Creative Award at the Black Excellence Graduation Celebration in April 2026.
While at university, I worked as a Writing Consultant at the Student Learning Hub. My main responsibility was to help students overcome challenges that they were having with their writing assignments. While pursuing my Bachelor’s degree, I worked as a Technical Support Intern at OYO Construction, a History teacher at Saint Mary’s Academy and as a Camp Instructor at Create and Code.
These experiences have helped me navigate university life and the real world confidently while also giving me a broad foundation as a young working professional that will help undoubtedly help me navigate my career.
I began work International Student Peer for the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies here at university in January 2026. My job was to engage newly admitted students in conversations about university life and provide them with relevant resources that would assist them in navigating their respective journeys.
Right now, I’m working on transitioning into the workforce here in Canada. The goal is to secure a job and make time for my art while seeing more of the country.

💲 LUNCH: You Decide Between The Options of Sending Your Child With Lunch or Lunch Money in Which We Will Make Accomodations For Them To Buy Food On UWI Campus
⛑️ SAFETY: Staff Members Will Be Present 24/7 To Monitor The Kids, No Child Will Be Left Unsupervised or Alone
