Facebook made a few announcements this morning...what this means to us as marketers.
1. Facebook is going to track how long you spend away from Facebook when you click on a link to determine if the link is "like" baiting or not (like baiting is a headline that encourages people to click without sharing much about what they will see when they get there). If visitors stay on your page and read the content (based on whatever their time limits are) then they are going to give your content a higher ranking and show it more frequently than if someone clicks the link and comes right back to Facebook.
2. They are going to prioritize content that shows links in the actual post instead of letting Facebook populate a clickable link. Supposedly, based on their research, people prefer to click on the actual link than the embedded one.
These changes are designed to deliver more relevant content to our newsfeeds.
