Erik Brodshaug from TINE and one of NorFor’s feed experts have presented EanaFôr — the new Norwegian feed planning software based on the NorFor system — to researchers at NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences

Using Ås Gård as a practical example, Erik demonstrated how the NorFor model can be applied to evaluate feed quality and calculate feed rations based on feed analyses in NorFor FAS.

We hope the session provided valuable insights for both teaching and scientific work. Close collaboration between NorFor and researchers in animal nutrition is essential for continued development and innovation, and universities are important partners and stakeholders for NorFor.

🌱 Exploring Sustainable Dairy Nutrition with NorFor – Meet PhD Student Markos Managos! 🐄📚

Meet Markos Managos, PhD student at SLU, who is soon defending his thesis on how to design dairy cow diets with a lower environmental impact.

Through a series of feeding trials and LCA calculations, Markos shows that choosing feed ingredients with lower environmental footprints can reduce emissions at the system level.

With NorFor, Markos could simulate intake, energy balance, and emissions for both dairy cows and heifers, making it easier to plan realistic and meaningful experiments.

“NorFor helped me design nutritionally balanced diets while keeping environmental impact in mind,” he says.

The defence will be followed by the seminar “Sustainability aspects on dairy diets.”
