20 years of PROTECTOR "2.0"

In march 2005 former Protector vocalist Martin Missy met swedish ultra Metalhead Jonas Svensson at a Nifelheim aftershow party in Stockholm. During the many hours the two talked with each other that night, the idea for a Protector coverband came up. Jonas went back to Uddevalla, where he lived at the time, and found Mathias "Matte" Johansson (bass), Carl-Gustav "Calle" Karlsson (drums) and Michael "Micke" Carlsson (guitar) for this project. They started rehearsing and in the beginning of 2006 Martin visited the guys in the rehearsalroom in Uddevalla. "Martin Missy & The Protectors" was born. Between 2006 and 2011 they played old Protectorsongs live at 24 shows (mainly in northern and central Europe). They also recorded one song together: "Sepulchral Voice" for the S***m tribute album "In the Sign of S***m".

In 2011 the members of Martin Missy and the Protectors decided that they would like to reanimate Protector officially. They asked foundig member Hansi Müller for permission, and after he had given them two thumbs up, Micke, Matte, Calle and Martin wrote and recorded four new songs in the summer of 2011. At their gig at the Way of Darkness festival in october that year, the band announced that they from now on would continue officially under the name Protector. The four new songs were released on the demo "The Return of Thrash and Madness" on that same festival, and one of the songs ("Road Rage") was also played live that evening.

In the years that followed Protector played live 75 times (as of June 2026) and released four new albums on High Roller Records.
On the 2nd of May past and present members of the band joined forces at the Hallenbad in Wolfsburg, where they played a special gig commemorating Protectors 40th anniversary.

Currently the band is working on a new album which hopefully will be recorded and released in 2027.

On our way back to Sweden from gigs at Basinfirefest (CZ) and Nackenbrecher Festival (D).
We had a great time before, under and after our shows. 🤘🤘🤘
Matte unfortunately hurt one of his knees quite bad on our way down to Czechia, which made it extremely difficult for him to walk. He still played both shows though, sitting on a chair.
These were the last two shows for about 10 months for us. Now we will focus on writing new songs, and hopefully also recording our next LP in early 2027.
