What an intense and wonderful week at IGCA 2026 Germany in Munich! 🌿🥨 Many thanks to the Verband Deutscher Garten-Center e.V. and the entire IGCA organising team and everyone involved for ensuring that the event was such a success! We were able to make numerous international contacts and look forward to building on these connections in the future. 🌍🙏🤝

In the end, it is the people who make the difference 💚

More than 270 participants from 21 countries joined us in Germany for the IGCA Congress 2026 in Munich. For us, as the Association of German Garden Centres, it was a great pleasure to host this international congress once again in its country of origin after 66 years.

What shaped this week above all was the personal connection between people. Many had known each other for years, while others were attending for the first time and felt part of the group in no time.

You could feel it on the buses: national borders quickly became secondary. This was especially visible on our study tour bus, where participants from 15 nations travelled together.

For the younger generation in particular, this perspective beyond one’s own business is incredibly valuable. Seeing how garden centres operate in other countries sparks curiosity about our industry and may even inspire people to take on responsibility themselves. The openness in the conversations also showed just how similar many challenges are around the world. When there is trust, people also speak openly about the things that are difficult in their own companies.

That is exactly why it was so important to us to give our members the opportunity to get a first-hand impression of this world congress through our “VDG Summer Trip meets IGCA 2026.” The group joined the international congress at Kiefl and became part of the programme for two days.

Above all, they were able to experience first-hand what makes an IGCA Congress so special: open exchange, looking beyond borders, and the feeling of being part of a strong international community.

Some things can be explained at length.
Some things simply have to be experienced in person.

Challenges can be solved better together. As the VDG, we create spaces for this exchange - both nationally and internationally.

Our very special thanks go to the VDG team. Their incredible dedication made this congress possible in the first place.

Am Ende machen die Menschen den Unterschied 💚

Mehr als 270 Teilnehmer aus 21 Ländern waren beim IGCA Kongress 2026 in München bei uns in Deutschland zu Gast. Für uns als Verband Deutscher Garten-Center war es eine große Freude, diesen internationalen Kongress nach 66 Jahren wieder in seinem Gründungsland auszurichten.

Geprägt hat diese Woche vor allem das persönliche Miteinander: Viele kennen sich seit Jahren, andere waren zum ersten Mal dabei und gehörten nach kurzer Zeit ganz selbstverständlich dazu.

Man hat es in den Bussen gespürt:
Die Ländergrenzen waren schnell nebensächlich. Besonders schön war das bei unserem Study-Tour-Bus mit Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern aus 15 Nationen.

Gerade für die junge Generation ist dieser Blick über den eigenen Betrieb hinaus wertvoll. Zu sehen, wie Garten-Center in anderen Ländern arbeiten, macht neugierig auf unsere Branche und vielleicht auch Lust, selbst Verantwortung zu übernehmen. Die Offenheit in den Gesprächen hat außerdem gezeigt, wie ähnlich viele Herausforderungen weltweit sind. Wenn Vertrauen da ist, spricht man auch über das, was im eigenen Unternehmen schwierig ist.

Und genau deshalb war es uns wichtig, mit unserer "VDG-Sommerreise meets IGCA 2026" auch Mitgliedern die Möglichkeit zu geben, in diesen Weltkongress hineinzuschnuppern. Die Gruppe stieß bei Kiefl zum internationalen Kongress dazu und wurde für zwei Tage Teil des Programms.

Vor allem konnten sie live erfahren, was einen IGCA Kongress ausmacht: den offenen Austausch, den Blick über Grenzen hinweg und das Gefühl, Teil einer starken internationalen Gemeinschaft zu sein.

Manches kann man lange erklären - Manches muss man einfach einmal miterlebt haben.

Herausforderungen kann man besser gemeinsam lösen. Als VDG schaffen wir Räume für diesen Austausch – national und international.

Unser ganz besonderer Dank gilt dem VDG- Team. Dieses hat mit unglaublich viel Einsatz diesen Kongress erst möglich gemacht.
